My wife has an AT PRO, I have a MXT PRO, some times she kicks my butt hunting, sometimes I kick hers, I am going to get AT PRO or AT GOLD, my question IS, IF I get AT GOLD, and the 9 x 12 or the 8.5 x 11 will it be any deeper or as deep as the AT PRO I here the bigger the coil the deeper it goes?. I like that the gold has threshold it has helped me with my mxt to find thoes deeper objects like my $5 dollar gold piece it was about 14 inches deep I heard just little waver in the threshold i could have missed it in silent . I am really impressed with AT PRO and I want one. By the way on her first hunt in our front yard she found found a cannon ball and a spencer casing, CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT! and she knows how to rub it in.

Deeper than the ATP...no. With both using the same coil, depth would be the same. The Gold was designed to hit better on the mid range and low range stuff where gold would come in. The Thresh and true all metal might get you a wee bit deeper, but I can't say for sure as I haven't logged enough time on the Gold yet.

AT Gold goes a little deeper than AT Pro, i did own both for a while but when i decided to move from inland Australia to a coastal town on a island i thought best sell AT Gold as she dont handle salt.
I do so miss the AT Gold, was a great machine only drama was you cant do notch discrimination like you can on AT Pro.

here is a depth video i made of the two machines

The bigger the coil,, the deeper it will find targets in the right conditions,,,,But it will see more targets....
I have 2 AT Pro's and love them,, one has the 5x8 coil and the other has the 4.5" sniper coil....
I hunt trashy places,, where some don't like to hunt,, and have only used my stock 8.5 x 11" coil one or two times...
I have found more good things with smaller than stock coil's with any unit I ever used.....
But if you have wide open places with less trash,,,then go for the big coil...

Thank you for your info, I think I will go with the pro, used my wife's some when she will let me, being able to lay it down in wet grass and not worry is a big plus, its a no no with mine. I will check for some reviews on other coils. I will post some pictures of the cannon ball, buttons and bayonet my wife has found and hopefully some with my pro when I get it thank you again for your input it means a lot to the person asking the question, and thank you find mall for having such a great forum.
