I have a question about the Xterra 305 concerning volumn loudness.

Maybe it's the headphones, but they work good with the Ace 250.
I have the 305 set at 10, but it's only about half maybe a little more then the Ace in loudness.
I have a set of Koss that I might try on my next outing.
Is this normal for the 305 ?
Still have to admit I love that machine.
The Ace has he sniper coil on, and the 305 has the stock coil on.
There a good pair together.

My 50 and 70 are the same way. I can use my killer bs on my bounty hunter and they are louder on it than they are on my minelabs. I keep my volume at max on my 70 and on my headphones.

I've not experienced a problem with mine and my GGhosts. Just curious, how is the volume level without the headphones plugged in? The reason I ask is because the volume level setting for use with headphones is different than the setting for use without headphones. If you've ever reset the X-TERRA and forgotten to set both volumes again, it defaults to a lower level than you may have had it set at before. Just a thought. HH Randy

I use the Koss headphones and they are MORE than loud enough, have u tried another set of headphones to be sure they are not bad?

Sorry about the pun.:poke: You have a volume control on the detector for the speaker as well as for the head phones. Plug the head phones in and then adjust the volume control.

I have a 705 and some cheap cal rads. The thing will blow my ears off at full volume. I run at around 23 (out of 30). Not what the scale is on the 305. Usually not a prob untill I pinpoint and hit the full extent of the volume, then wow.

I have tried it without the head set and it's a little louder then with them.
It's not a problem, but was just curious. I have them set at 10.
Soon as I have a chance with selling a coil and throwing a few bucks in I want to get a set of Rattlers.
Want something I can hear what going on around me.

Thanks for all the replies

I bought a pair of Sunray Gold phones, i think they are called. Now, i can afford to turn the volume down a little.

Best of luck with your search for a set of louder phones.

I found my set of Koss headphones and what a difference :)) The @26.00 just didn't cut it.
Tried to hit some woods today and all I got were old cans and tops.
So I packed up and went to a school with not the best, or biggest playground.
Twenty six cents. The penny must have been wacked with a lawnmower. All bent up
But problem corrected..
Thank guys for all your replies.
