I have a question about the Coin$trike threshold

I realize this could be on the other Coinstrike forum but since most of you post here I thought maybe I'd give it a shot here:

On my one detector (let's just call it the Explorer) I can raise the threshold sound in subtle increments. On my C$ when I go from Zero to 1 the threshold goes from silent to suddenly too loud for me.
Is there any way for a tech to get inside my machine and allow me to not hear as much threshold at 1 or 2 or 3? It is rather unnearving for me to hear the constant humm as loud as it is.

Thanks in advance.

Tony

With the CoinStrike, going to a positive threshold is maxing out the detector's depth for a particular sensitivity setting. It doens't null over iron but at a setting of +1 it will enhance the weakest target signal to its maximum level. After you start passing the 1 setting then you start to saturate and hide signals. A setting of +3 will saturate and hid foil but will still allow nickels to come through. A setting of +4 will saturate nickels and you will only hear tab and higher range targets.

There are not too many places where I can run the the threshold at a +1 but I can run it at a +3

As far as turning it down with and internal adjustment, I don't know. Maybe a call in to Fisher is in order there. I turn down my headphone volume when I'm in that range.

Good luck

Mike, a +1 on my threshold is pretty loud. +3 would be unbearable to listen to for over a minute.

Maybe I should wait till Winter gets here before I call Fisher. It would be nice if there was a trim pot inside for the loudness of the threshold. Going from zero to 1 is pretty extreme where zero is dead silent and 1 is annoyingly loud.
