I Have a Question About the Coiltek 15 inch Coil

My question is,is there any video's on youtube on the new coiltek 15" 3khz.coil.Has anyone ever used this coil
and has anyone had any success useing this coil. And what is your comment on useing the coil.Or would you
buy the 6"dd coil instead. The reason I am asking this question is because I hunt in wide open fields.Thank you.

I beginning to think that I have a defective coil but I cannot get any answers from Coiltek. I had another guy say that he used his OK and that he had no problem ground balancing. I tried tracking and it still does not want to ground balance. I know what I am doing. I have had two X-70's and the new 705 and I know how to operate them. Maybe Digger may know who to contact about the warranty on this coil.

It depends on detectable object density. If there is little trash, then the 15" is the way to go. But if the ground is peppered with trash, then the 6" will be a better option. Both holler when they find a coin, and both distinguish good targets from junk well, but if the object density is too high you stand to lose too much to masking with a big coil.

According to CoilTek's website, you need to return the coil to your dealer, who will handled the warranty claim. Here is part of that section.....

1. How long is the warranty for my Coiltek product?
At Coiltek Manufacturing(CTM) we provide a full 12 month warranty on all of our manufactured coils and accessories (some products may vary). This warranty starts from the date of purchase by the customer. This is applicable worldwide. This warranty covers any manufacturing errors like cracks in plastics or performance issues like no response which are from manufacturing faults

Thanks Digger, I used the address from their web site to contact Coiltek but they never answered. I got the problem fixed though. I had to turn the sensitivity down to 10 and then I could GB OK. If I go above 10, then all it would do is chatter. All of my other coils including my 15" 7.5 Khz Coiltek will GB at 30. I had tried to GB the 3 Khz coil at 12 and it would not work. I have a clean spot in my yard to do tests and the mineralization is not very high. Thanks Again for the information. Steve

Good to hear Steve. I should have mentioned that earlier.......in my Field Test, I reported that I set the Sensitivity at 10 for all the All Terrain coils, when conducting the ground balance. Once I got the proper GB, I'd raise the Sensitivity to the optimum setting for that site. After you got yours set, were you able to raise the Sens? HH Randy

It does get a little chatter if I go to the max (30) My 15" 7.5 Khz coiltek coil works good at 30. You learn something new every day.

Is it maybe from frequency? cause 3kh works better with iron.

My 15'' 3khz coiltek arrived today and I just came from a short hunt with it. Well it was quite stable with max sensitivity at 20 with xt505. Now about targets I think its not as sensitive on small copper coins as my 10.5 MF but I found some pieces of lead I missed with my other coil and detector in a field that has been worked before from a lot of detectorists. Iron seems to chirp and giving tdis at 48, 45, tdis that I used to dig to find deep copper with the 10.5MF coil and silver coins. I do not know why it was missing a copper nugget of maybe 15 gramms of weight on 2'' inches air testing giving the right tone and instead was giving me the iron tone??

It sounds to me as though you haven't yet found the optimum swing speed. That big coil, in that frequency, with the sensitivity turned up, is looking at a LOT of ground, and it needs time to see and interpret what is under it. The chirps are a good indicator that you need to slow down a little.
