The place was a very active gold mine in the late 1800's and even has some of the original structures left somewhat standing. You have to go over some bad road in very steep mountains to get there. That is not the problem however. A few years back some elk hunters were poking around the ruins of this place and ventured into some of the old mine shafts. Back in the shafts they found what looked like huge nests made from pine boughs and sticks. They had a very bad smell, and the guys noticed some human looking tracks that were bare foot and almost 2 feet long. It creeped them out so bad that they ran out of the shaft and ran into , as the story goes, a Bigfoot. They were so darn scared that they ran to their trucks and tore out of there, never to return. The story is even listed on Bigfoot websites.
I have elk hunted in the area and have knocked around the old mine ruins but have never gone into the shafts. My Dad and Uncles told us to avoid this place as "Wierd" stuff has been going on around there for decades. It sounds like a good place to take Elson detecting, but I have a question: Would it be cruel to expose an unsuspecting creature to Elson?
What do you think Elson, wanna have some fun with an Idaho Baa-bat? DC
