I have a new machine............................................

on the way!!!!!! I'll be receiving my new White's Beach-hunter ID soon and can't wait to hit the water with it! I'll be doing salt and fresh water and would GREATLY appreciate any tips for the machine. A few months ago I bumped into a hunter using one of these in Florida and he had some nice jewelry and coin finds from it. He suggested to run in "all metal mode" and use the target ID lights to decide if to dig. I was also told this machine is pretty good on the smaller type targets too. Anyway, I'm just dreaming about all the loot that's waiting for all of us to find. I want to thank everyone for making this a wonderful and informative site for all of us to share our stories and experiences!

I had a BHID for an extended "field test" from a whites dealer friend of mine. I got to use it for 18 months and in that time I really took a liking to the machine. It has verrrry good depth and best of all it has excellent sensitivity to small gold items (atleast in my opinion). I found more Gold stud earrings and gold bracelets in that 18 month period than I ever have with my excal. But more importantly the BHID always gave a nice reapeatable signal on small gold. the 3 light ID system is definitely worth learning. you will find that sometimes a deep piece of gold will only register with a yellow light and not much if any kind of an audible signal....dig these when they happen.....I have more than a few pieces of gold in my ringbox from doing just that. So all I'm saying is that if you take the time to learn the BHID it will be a real nice machine and should bring you many nice returns....HH....Brian
PS. Be sure to order a Coil stabilizer for the machine....it will prevent your coil from wobbling on the shaft when submerged in the surf or any water for that matter JMHO

Hey Surfdigger, thanks for the fast reply! I also read the BHID has a very fast recovery speed and does well in trashy areas. Anytime I've ever purchased a new machine, I always make sure to spend a good deal of time really learning it (this has always paid off with nice finds)! I think you probably mastered the machine with 18 months of using it, so any additional tips that you can think of would be great! I think that some detector users don't spend enough time really learning their machines before making decisions about them. Once again, I want to thank everyone for the GREAT replies!!! Please keep posting anything that can make the BHID learning curve a little faster!

Beach-Hunter, thanks for the words! Please do share any pointers you might have with tweaking and getting the most from the BHID!
