I have a CZ-70 Pro on the way. Thanks to Mr Bill.

I've never tried any of the CZ units before. I did look at them real hard 6 years ago when I was deciding on my first real upgrade from my starter units. At that time it was down to a Cortes, MXT and a CZ-70. I picked the Cortes back then. I liked the way it looked. I still like the way it looks, just doesn't have tone id.

Recently read where the CZ-70 Pro was Fisher's response to the Explorer when they were first released. That really piqued my curriosity as I've had several Explorers in the past and found their performance real nice. Been planning to get another one in fact. That made me want to run a CZ-70 and see what I may have missed by overlooking it back then. Just so happen Mr Bill had one when I called him looking to see what he might have gathering dust in his back room.

The CZ's are still as deep or deeper than any VLF unit on the market plus they are so simple to use its scary. The one key is don't notch anything. It has a propensity to mask good targets if you notch out iron. Listen to it all and you'll soon wonder why it took you so long to try one of the best. I've tried them all except the newest White's V-3, and the Fisher LTD and E-trac. I currently own an Explorer SE Pro, Fisher CZ-5,Delta 4000 and a Garrett MH CX III. I don't see any depth advantage on the Explorer at all but it may ID a little better due to more info from screen. The one problem with the CZ's they absolutely love screwcaps and they ring in either zinc or high tone coin. The only way to identify them is with sizing in pinpoint (they don't fade out as fast as a coin). Built like a tank and just a solid performer in any ground. Sorry for rambling and good luck with one of the best.

Thanks for the tips there, Michael.
I'm looking forward to it.

Mike I LOVE the CZ-70. I wish I'd started off with the CZ-70 as it works great in our highly mineralized soil in CA and goes deeeeep.

I like it so much, that I just purchased a second "hot" unit from Christopher-ohio (air tests a silver dime at 12" w/the 8" coil...can't beat that!).

I'm planning to send my old unit to Keith Willis to tune specifically to my Sunray FZ12 12.5" coil for deep silver hunting and beach hunting.

michaelnc is right, don't notch anything, and you shouldn't dig much iron. The only exception might be if you're beach hunting, and only looking for gold, you could notch out the high conductors, but I like to hear it all.

Looking forward to seeing how you like it (I know you will, it's so easy to use). Oh and did I mention that it LOVES deep silver?

Yes, I sometimes think the same way. But then I would have traded this in for a better unit. But to me there is no better one. Had the vthree, didn't impress me, so sold it.

Hi michaelnc. Hope you dont mind me asking but posted a question a few days ago about my CZ5 and no replies so far, having problems tuning / balance do you have a black wire connected inside the control box ( middle of board area ) that is only connected one end ( or connected to where ). We keep hoping Spring is coming here in the UK but its still winter now, are you warming up in your area?. Not so many owners in the UK of the Fisher CZ:unsure:group so its good to see its still has many followers . Regards pedro60

I was offered a great deal on a new V3i and decided to pursue it. :chase: I was planning to wait until fall to check out a used one but the deal was too good to pass up. Don't ask me any details about the deal cause I ain't talking.

Bad news is I never even put the CZ to the ground. (sigh) So that means I'll have to circle back around to it later. Probably wont find another one in that condition either.
