I have a C$ and just bought an Edge (on the way). I wonder which one I will like best?

What are some opinions of you all that have, or have had both? What are the strengths and weaknesses of each detector. Thanks for your feedback. I mainly hunt old coins.

Chris

Have you used either? I've never had an Edge and look forward to trying it out. I do like the C$ and how it hunts. I will sell one or the other and maybe try a 3D.

I have only the CZ and love it...solid light and small and deep! Keep it simple and deep with some tones and a simple meter! Let us know how it goes!

Chris,

I have owned both, recently sold the C$ this year-was never really happy with that detector. I purchased the new Edge from Kelly-Co in March of this year and have not been disapointed at all. In my opinion, it's the best detector that Fisher makes (Now I guess owned by Mine labs in Texas)?

I have found so many CW artifacts, bullets, buttons, and indian head cents-it really is a fun, fully functional ID detector without the anoying modes of operations found on the higher end units (C$, etc).

Buy it-you won't be disappointed and happy hunting!

Well, I only have the CZ and it has worked great on the old bronze coins here in Japan..500 to 1200 year old coins. Went over areas that I have used my old garrett master hunter's and came up with more coins. I like the light weight and the meter. May try the others later...Just seeing what happens in the future to the company.

I just bought a used Edge and used it at a old Ohio school yard on the way down and back to MI.I did find a 1936 1919 wheat and about 40 clad coins. The pinpoint isn't as crisp or percise as a CZ.The Edge got a lot of false targets.I thought the ID had too much bounce.I'm not sure about the depth didn't find any coins deeper than 6 inches. Hey Chinacash,
That looks like a nice example of a Ch'ung Ning T'ung Pao from the Northern Sung Dynasty. Nice find! I just found a decent Ch'ien Lung (Chihli mint) the other day. Not nearly as old as yours, but still fun to uncover. It was found near where an old workers cottage foundation was located many years ago, here in South Australia.
Old stuff is cool, no matter where it's from.

Yes Toby, It's cool finding the old bronze. Most chinese bronze here is before 1600's. after that the japanese brought there own type (1600-late 1700's) Hope you find more soon! I will hunt again in winter here, coz it is too hot now!

Dave,
I spent 20 years in the USAF and had a few friends that spent time at Kadina AB, although I never made it there. My only overseas stint was here in Australia, and have since retired and moved here to stay. Really enjoying MD'ing here, although kinda miss the chance for old American silver.
