I have a brilliant idea for a new long handled beach scoop. although it may be a little cost prohibitive.......

Carbon fibre. It's supposed to be 10x stronger than steel and 75% lighter. I wish someone would fabricate one to see how really durable it would be. Just copy a favorite long handled scoop and then beat it to death on a beach. It could be made of one piece construction so there would be no screws or welds to break and the neatest thing would be that you could scan the scoop with your coil to see if the target was inside or not. What do y'all think?

in the waves and water, it would be hard to keep down and in place, and if it splinters a little, the splinters HURT a ton, and u cant see them to pull them out, at least my expierience. I like the idea, maybe put a coating on it so it wont splinter, and possibly put sand in it as a weight. Great idea, hope you get one made.

I`ve been thinking about a carbon fiber straight shaft for my excal,
it not as costly as you would think. I think it is very strong, but to fragile for a scoop. My $.02 any way.

OK guys, think, who has a round bottle that may be carbon fibre or very strong fibreglass composite. FireFighters, yes thats right, just call up a false alarm to the ole house and swipe one of them nice MSA new fibre bottles from the truck. Then drill out your holes, put a handel on it and try it out. If it works you can call in a bunch of fire alarms and make up a bunch and sell them on e-bay.

OK, Just jokeing, being a diver, a Police Diver, I go to the fire station and fill my scuba bottles, At Norfolks #1 station they have a room where they service all the air bottles for our stations as well as others. Next time ill inquire if they have a bottle with damaged threads and see if I can get it, Ill try it out and let you know what happens. Im always for new and lighter stuff to carry.

Real detector people dont worry about them splinters, heck they dont hurt anymore then all them stinging nettels we wade threw in the bay. Ok junior, dont try to give dad a hard time, im just thinking again.
