I Have A ? About Siliconeing 9 in.Coil

My question is just this. I would like to know what kind of silicone do you all ues and why. I went to lowes today and seen clear silicone in a tube the man there told me
once you put this silicone on it is very hard to take off, which type is the best to use because I would like to protect the 9 in. coil from getting dirt and water in all the cracks.
And do you put it around the outside and inside of coil. Thanks for all of your information...

I got tired of cleaning out my coil covers. So...Right or wrong, I took all my coils to a truck bedliner shop and had them spray a light coat of the bedliner stuff on the bottom of each coil, (without the cover). I feel it didn't affect the performance of the coil in anyway. That was 2 years ago and they are holding up just fine!!

I don't know if it voids coil warranty using bedliner spray as far as Minelab is concerned or not, but have been told it's ok with Garrett. That's also what I plan to use on my 3khz coil, as mentioned in another post, I was park hunting, did a sand volleyball court, moved to another field and couldn't ground balance until I removed the coil cover and cleaned the sand from the volleyball court out from between the coil and coil cover. A buddy uses the spray on bedliner from auto parts store with good success, just got to be sure it doesn't contain any metallics.
