I hate when nature cuts a hunt short!

So I had a very quick hunt. I had access to a new yard in town. I had some White castles the night before and it shut my hunt down quick... lol

Got this cool button. I did some research and it dates 1870 to 1899 its a Merchant Marine . This falls in the year of the yard I was at.

I only Dug a few goodies but I will be back... I hate when the Sliders Hit.. lol

Interested in your research on the button. US Merchant Marines were founded in the 1940's. Though Maritime Merchants have been around a lot longer, how did you determine this button was from the mid to late 1800's without a back mark?

Someone on another site and someone said something on facebook.. I stand corrected if I am wrong. Im not a button guy

Hmmmm... when you said "I did some research". I thought maybe you had some magical way of dating buttons without back marks. I've learned a while ago "Never believe everything you hear" :pinnochioSocial Media and the younger generation has taken that to a new level. Replica Nautical buttons have been widely used and still are for all kinds of commercial civilian clothing, I'm no expert I just Googled it.

Nice finds, the button cleaned up nice and your wheats look like they're in pretty good shape. Thanks for sharing!

In my area of the world nature sneaks up behind me while I am waist deep in the water holding a lightning rod and goes to putting off those loud Booms. Definitely can cause the same problem as those sliders. Some nice finds for a short hunt. Congrats .
