I already know it will do better for Gold than the MXT which I hope to leave for Murry ID.This month to hunt for---My question is about Stopping Interefence; When I have a proplem with false hits what can I do to get it to run smother---I was in a park yesterday in Portland Or. and I was having a False tone hit around every 5-10 Sec.I tried every thing I have been told to smooth it down but nothing worked---Is there places where it is Impossible to use the V-3---If so do others carry a second detector to use in those conditions---I could use my MXT there with no problems, I did Not have my TDI to see how it would work in that park----How many have Found Places where they had to pack it up and go home because the V-3 could not be smoothed out ? ?

Hello........Please tell us your operating set up on the V3, for without knowing at least that, we can't begin to understand what may be the problem.

Sensitivities, disc settings, filters being use...

MOST IMPORTANT of ALL...............DID you try offsetting your frequencies ??????

That last comment is the crucial weapon against interference.........OFFSET

Hope we can assist you to solve your problem..........TheMarshall

I used Hi Pro and Coin Jewelry and stock settings---Tried lowering Gain down to 2 on both and tried moving Freq. Plus Too Minus---Nothing helped---Carl Moreland told me moving the plus Minus would always help to some extent---It did Nothing---Time to go to bed as I have a old House site to try tomorrow Morn. !

Might go to single frequency of 2.5, has helped on mine and I have also read that some are using hard line headphones to get by EMI. Yazoo

If you are hunting in an area with lots of targets both good and bad try locking the auto track feature, I have found that this helps eliminate some of the falsing. You can continue to ground balance manually in the normal pumping method when you want to. HH

There are a number of options as has been mentioned already - adjusting frequency offset, frequency (three or single), adjusting gain and disc sens... One other that you can try is if you are running in 3 frequency mode, set the VDI method to correlate rather than best data.

Yes as I said in my Second post i tried all freq and offset also---I use wire phones (Black Widow's) I tried locking the balance---Almost tried the Sledge Hammer fix to tone it down But did not have the Hammer !

I don't know if you tried this but next time hold the coil at waist level and see if it still falses, if so I would think it was an EMI issue. If its an EMI issue I have heard others also suggest going with a smaller coil or switching to co-relate if your running 3 Freq. Hope this helps.

If you use the DX-1...just bypass it and see if things change.

I just came back from the Blue and Gray relic hunt in Va. This was first real test for the V for me ,hunting with a large group. First off I have at least 100 hrs with this machine I am not a newbie I have other detectors and I am not bashing the V. I can say I was not to impressed. Falsing unless I had Gain down to about 4 I did manage to get it to 7 once. Tried the offset did nothing. Managed to get away from the crowd out in the middle of nowhere 1.7 miles from the main road. Still could not turn the gain up. The ground was actually pretty mild for Va. On the probe less than 1% signal loss, so ground mineralization was not the problem. Hunted for 2 days with the V then switched to MXT on 3rd day and had much better experience. I really like this machine but if you have to constantly fiddle with the gain settings to use it at a big hunt I will leave it home.I use high pro program at site I hunt at home with no problem but again I have to hunt with gain at 4 which is understandable because of powerlines and electric fences I would really like to use this machine to its potential but have yet to find that place.

I think you'll have problems in club/large hunts with the D2 coil. All DD coild are sensitive to interferance. Buy a 950 for such detecting.
