I don't detect the beach like I use to a few years ago. I'm mainly into dirt fishing now but I still like to hit the beach a few times a month. It's been ages since I've done an 8 hours day at the beach carrying a 6 pound sand scoop. Low tide was at 3:34 pm and I arrived at Santa Monica beach around 6:30 am thinking I'd make a day of it. By 2:30pm my body was falling apart and I was on my way home by 3:00. I had to crawl from my truck to my front door after I was done. Lots of clad coins and even one wheat penny. Someone needs to outlaw pennies. I dug 64 of them and about 3/4 of them were in the wet sand. Here are my totals:
25 quarters, 22 dimes, 14 nickels (my best nickel day ever), 65 stinking pennies, 3 cars, 3 key's, 1 bus token, a junk chain (no markings), and a ton of trash. Thought for sure I was going to score at least one ring. Oh well, I still had fun. Explorer Se with Sunrays 12.5" coil
