I hate those deep wet sand pennies.........

I don't detect the beach like I use to a few years ago. I'm mainly into dirt fishing now but I still like to hit the beach a few times a month. It's been ages since I've done an 8 hours day at the beach carrying a 6 pound sand scoop. Low tide was at 3:34 pm and I arrived at Santa Monica beach around 6:30 am thinking I'd make a day of it. By 2:30pm my body was falling apart and I was on my way home by 3:00. I had to crawl from my truck to my front door after I was done:detecting:. Lots of clad coins and even one wheat penny. Someone needs to outlaw pennies. I dug 64 of them and about 3/4 of them were in the wet sand. Here are my totals:

25 quarters, 22 dimes, 14 nickels (my best nickel day ever), 65 stinking pennies, 3 cars, 3 key's, 1 bus token, a junk chain (no markings), and a ton of trash. Thought for sure I was going to score at least one ring. Oh well, I still had fun. Explorer Se with Sunrays 12.5" coil

Look at it this way if this was 1965, ( when i took my first job)that would be a good pay for 8 hrs. work, over a dollar an hour. Maybe next time it will be Gold all day. Thanks for sharing.HH

Last time I was at SM, I dug 78 pennies!!! No gold for the month (but, only went twice) Planning two months (July and August) in Hawaii!!! Yea!!! Didn't get to go last year due to husband's knee replacement surgery. First time in 18 years that we didn't go. Say hi to Bill

Two months in Hawaii is like being in detector heaven. Make sure you take a lot of pictures to share with us. I hit low tide at Zuma today and it was terrible. Got there around 4:40am and left at 10:00am. Got 1 quarter, 4 dimes, 1 nickel, 10 pennies, 2 toy cars, and 1 junk kids ring. Bill did pretty good at SM. He got lots of clad but no rings. I'll tell him you said hi.
