I had fun today

Elton

New member
I just bought a used 5900 Di Pro SL... supposed to do a old Farm..but at last minute it was no go.. Owner said next week.

Went to a park.. Settings On P Signal Balance as high as possible.. above P settings. Man I forgot how much fun it is to detect with an Analog meter.. Dead on accuracy..

Plenty of depth... Found a Nice Mexican Silver Ring marked 524 .. Sweet pure Like Silver look out of the ground.. Just below Dime reading and a nice sound...

Been many a year since I used a 5900 Di Pro SL... Enjoyed it so much today...No EMI, No Jumpy ID Numbers, no false signals.... Just pure plain enjoyment..

Sorta makes you wonder if the new Digital machines are as perfect as we think they are..... I had forgotten too how deep the 5900 is after a good ground Balance is achieved

Sounds like you had a very enjoyable hunt with a detector you like using Elton.-----That's what its all about!--------Del

I didn't have to listen for faint chirps, maybe signals, iron grunts..I just turned it on, Ground Balanced ,set the signal balance for max for the area, left all else in P settings ( Preset).
Started hitting 5"- 6", and a little more depth on new coins. Instantly hit some Quarters, Dimes , a Wheat cent, Silver ring, a nickle, and everyone Id'd where it should have been on the 0 to 100 Analog meter..where Penny/Dime . Quarter , Nickle markings were on the screen..
It worked perfect.. Would be hard to say that using the newer digital Detectors. Seems like there is always a maybe factor when out detecting with the new machines and a lot of interpretation involved.. Not today.. It hit, I looked, and dug what it said it was..The ring hit just under Penny/Dime area, and sounded really good. The sound just had that clear Silver sound even though it was just under that on scale due to the size. The ring is a small ladies...

Very enjoyable..and would have still been had I not found a ring.....

glad you are enjoying it...they are simple and fast when set up right...they are also a great 2nd machine to have .... some places the minelabs out perform the 5900 and some places the 5900 out performs my minelabs.....the 5.3 or 4x6 coils are great for working trashy areas....some say the older thinner 9.5 coil goes deeper than the thicker newer replacement coil and i believe its true as i have both and find the thinner older one more responsive....that transmit recieve mode is cool too if you dont want to listen to all that back round noise while working trashier sites...transmit recieve mode isnt all that deep though...my only mild dis likes about it are that at some sites i work it can hit real hard on hot rocks and it would be nice if it had more than one tone....its great for dry sand hunting.....set it up so it will hit on those little earing backs then dig anything that moves the needle--found lots of silver and gold studs that way.......enjoy......

Glad to see you were able to get out and have some fun.... and this hobby is just that - FUN! Never know what we are going to find next and that is the beauty of the hunt.

Man, that would drive me crazy with no grunts, tic's false signals and so on. You sure that thing is working right?:biggrin: Glad you enjoyed yourself. That is what this hobby is all about, anyway. And, of course, the friends we make along the way. HH jim tn

Have to agree with you Elton. I have never has a unit with a more accurate VDI readout than the high end metered White's analog machines. I could easily tell the difference between silver/clad coins and copper/zincolns. And super sweet with iron discrimination.

Terra------Those units are really working well for Elton in his OH area.-------You found them to do really well out here in our NW area(s) then to I take it?-----Which one of those older Whites units did you find to work the best in our area?----------Del

Hi Del.....I had the 6000Di Series 3. Used it in southern & northern (gold country) california. Was it the deepest....no. About 6" dime/7" quarter...but dang....it was accurate. Bottlecaps/iron had a real distinct chatter/ragged signal. On iron the meter needle would bounce back and forth from 0 to 100 on the meter. On coins, needle would peg one spot and stay there. Sweet. White's should seriously consider making these again. Although I read a post, true or not, that the mfg of the meter no longer mfg's them.

Congrats on the ring find !:detecting:
