I had a great long weekend even tho .........

I had to work a little each day, did a little metal detecting but really had fun fishing and sitting around the camp fire at night and tipping a few in the deep dark woods of Northern Wisconsin :beers:

For a fella that has'nt fished in 20 years I did pretty good  I hooked onto 2 northern pikes with a old spinning bait that I had in my tackle box for 20 years on top of the water, man those pikes attack that thing like it was their last meal which it was  .

Then I nailed a small mouth bass casting near the shore line from the boat using a rubber worm , I let it go because he was not on the menu that night :wiggle:
Then I nailed 3 crappie and one bluegill using minnows  which all ended up in the breading bowl then the deep fryer along with the pikes. Had a great weekend even tho work was mixed into it everyday, I had a blast on the water fishing again, learning what I forgot 20 years ago, I think I may take up another hobby to go along with my other two :smoke:

Sorry there are no pic's because I did what I do best, left the camera sitting on the washing machine, I was headed for the truck with it when I heard the washing machine end, so I stopped and unloaded the washing machine and in doing so I put the camera down, bad move I guess

I like fishing folks, it was so peaceful and just being able to slow down and relax for one weekend really did me a world of good, opened up my eyes to what I have been missing, we have more lakes and rivers in Wisconsin then anywhere else in the States, I know they say Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes but if you do a search on it you will find that Wisconsin has much more, we just don't beat that drum because we want you to go fish in Minnesota for Walleye and Muskies and not here in Wisconsin :clapping:

I see I have much reading to catch up on, I just took a quick glance at all the subject lines and see many post, oh my  how will I ever catch up

I can't wait to look at Kelleys pictures, I got a gut feeling he may have that bug thing down

better than to fish. I could do it every day! It is very relaxing, the sunshine, a small wind blowing on your face, and crappie!!! That is my favorite fish to eat and catch! I missed them this year in Arkansas though! I may fish this coming Saturday, if I can somehow manage it. I got the fever, bad!!!

I gotta get my license and get back to some fishing.I was once a avid fisherman-bass,crappie,catfish,even did some trout fishing.Seems like the last couple of years there just hasn't been enough time.

but your making me hungry thinking about those fried crappy and blue gill.what's pike like,is it similiar to salmon?

I was hoping that you would have posted some photos...would have loved to have seen the Northern Pike that you caught. Tell us more when you have time. Please have a great day! Kelley (Texas) :)

When I want to go fishing, I just walk out the 100 yards to the river and toss a line in!! :)

One of the advantages of living up here.

One day, I am going to learn how to add music to a post. Perfect selection. Andy would be proud!! :)

over 425 natural lakes in my county alone! Oakland County.

I have done one heck of a lot of fishing too over the years. I have made 20 fishing trips to remote Canadian lakes and used to fish from ice out to ice in. Many don't realize it but some of the best bass fishing a person can get in the north is just before the lakes freeze.

I still have all the equipment, fly rods spinning and even an ice fishing rod or two. Nobody ice fishes on purpose but do it when they are young because they think it is the manly thing to do and do it when they are old because they are stupid. The wife throws them out of the house and they don't realize a divorce is not all that bad a few years later :D

I started diving mainly so I would become a better fisherman. I figured I would learn a lot about the fishes habits and be able to catch more. Well I dove so much that I quit fishing. I have fished little in the last 25 years. I have done some in Florida on trips but not much and I miss it.

I have had thousands of hours on the lakes fishing, days and nights. Some of my most relaxing fishing has been at night in my canoe.

I remember strings of Crappie that were so good in the frying pan. I prefer them early in the spring though because the flesh seems firmer. I remember one year when fishing Oswald Lake in Northern Ontario that I caught 76 Northern pike in one week and I am sure I have had better weeks than that but that is the only time I counted them. I marked them on my tackle box for some reason.

I too hope to do much more fishing once I get moved to Roscommon. I will have one thing that I never have had. Time to go fishing.

said, it is so relaxing. I plan on doing it more often, we have many lakes and the more you go north the more lakes there are, hey bud, sounds like you were a hell of a fishermen, I hope when you move Royal you can once again enjoy your fishing again.
