I had a good huh. day at the beach, well it wasn't snowing.

I went to the beach to day at low tide. I was the only MDer there. Pants rolled up and bare foot. It was in the upper 50's today. The water was warmer then the air. The sand wasn't quite right. The ocean made a deposit and I made a small withdraw. I walked the beach for 2 hour finding little to nothing. I then walked in a straight line down the beach and started getting some hits for about a 100 yards then they quit. I then moved up the beach a little and went back. I kept getting hits. I repeated this for an hour more.
I found:
24 pennies,
4 dimes,
7 quarters,
4 nickles
2 ounce sinker If you find lead on the beach, it could be gold. Close to having the same properties. I am still praying for a Spanish gold coin. You have to dream.
hot wheel
2 zippers
Button
Bike sprocket
Many small pieces of cast iron pipe
many tabs
many more sparker wire from the 4 of July
A gold plated 1/2" nut (I think) It was covered in black crunchy stuff. I find black crunchy stuff a lot. When I get home I hope to find gold inside. When I was taking the crunchy stuff off I saw Bright gold shine through. I stopped to show my wife, so she could see the ring pop out. It was a nut. A small piece of (gold) chipped off. It is not brass. It is as shiny as a gold ring.
I took some great pictures to show you all. Some where along the way my camera jumped out of my pocket and made a run for it. It was my cheep back up. My good camera died 3 weeks ago on a canoe trip. I will probably get another camera Friday. I will take pictures of the nut(not me) and see what you think.

Looks like a fun hunt John. Too bad the snow I sent you never appeared, but I tried. I am looking forward to seeing the pics of the gold nut.

Looks like St Augautine, john. We used to go thre a lot. Nice pics and a nice description of a search in "The Lane"...the surf lane, that is, the area between the high water mark and the surf.

Great pics and nice sens of the suspense at finding gold... only to find it's a "nut". In fact, that's what most dedicated surf hunters say when they get busted "down at the lane": 'Went to the lane today, got nut.'

Youre getting good at this, man.

I was there at that fort early this year and had visions of what was around it. Made for a nice daydream anyway! Nice finds John....Bill
