I Had A Decent Night Too...Silver, Gold, and Diamonds!

Hit the low tide in the surflane from 2am to 6am. Targets aplenty and quite a few DEEPIES...20 quarters, one of them a 1969. Also a few pieces of junk jewelry and a not-silver ring. Then the silver ring with small diamond chips...probably real...very small. And then the find of the day for me, the heavy 14K ring with one medium and two small diamonds. When I hear that on my Excalibur I KNEW I had a gold ring...no doubt about it. Looks kind of good on my finger...think I'll keep it. I usually do better on my weekend wee-hour hunts on Sunday morning, after a good Saturday beach day. The Friday night/Saturday morning hunt is usually poor to lukewarm. So being as how this one was so good, I have to hit it again tomorrow! :)

Here are some pics...diamond rings are tough to photograph...piture doesn't do it justice. Oh, anybody have any specifics on the markings? Never saw those before.

being a fisher kinda guy for many years, what did (would) that ring sound like with it

i have never owned anything but minelab so i have no clue what rings would sound like with anyting else, but like u said, most of the time with the excal................U KNOW

:D

Well, with the CZ series (and I have the 4 tone CZ-70) it would give you a mid-tone (actually, the "new 4th tone" on the CZ-70) and the LED under the "Relic" icon would light up. On the older CZ-7a Pro there is no Relic icon and no 4th tone, it has 3 tones and they are low, mid, and high. It would be the mid tone and the icon would be "Square Pull Tab", which they actually just replaced with that "Texaco Star" looking "Relic" icon on the CZ-70. That's consistent with your heavier gold rings, which this thing definitely is. I just checked it with my CZ-70, by the way...what do you ask?

As a side note, the only reason they changed the icon from "Square Pull Tab" to "Relic" and added that 4th tone on the CZ-70 was because too many newbies were passing up the Square Pull Tab signals, thinking they were junk. In reality, things that come in under that icon are gold rings, Civil War musketballs and buttons, some Indian Head pennies, and quite a few other things...some of your more rare coins, including gold ones. And although I use Minelabs on the beach and land as my primary machines these days, the CZ's are some excellent machines and VERY easy to use. Tough to beat on depth too.

Gator,

My hunting buddy uses a Fisher. I can tell you how it sounds according to him. Rings do not sound often with his Fisher anyway.

We were out hunting this morning. I saw him wave at me and made my way over. He said he had a faint hit in the circle in the sand but could not find it again. I took my minelab Excal and made three swings and nothing. On the fourth my headphones came off. I said "Here it is" and marked it. He came over and swept it, and said, "Yes, real faint, must be deep." I said "YOu call that a weak signal?" He replied "Yep" and took off his headphones for me to hear. Sure enough it was a faint pip. I took off mine and let him listen. When I went over it I watched his head shake. When he took off the phones I said "Guess that is why I am finding the rings and you are not." I think that was the final straw and he will be getting a new machine.

Oh, the target was a nickel at about 8".

Bear

P.S. For the Fisher lovers. I am sure they are great machines and my guess is either my buddies machine is going or he needs to check his settings.

Hell of nice haul:thumbup: As for the markings I am not sure, VF is not a diamond designation and most jewelry is not made of 24Kt gold since it's to soft. So I am kind of at a loss. Only think I can think of is it could be the jewlers mark. Just an idea.

Good Luck
Mark
