I had a bad coil after all.

I bought my F75 new last April and never did get the performance and depth that so many of you had been writing about. I was doing everything right, but still the deepest coin that I found was only about three inches deep. I have well over a hundred hours on it and have hunted in some old towns. I didn't want to be without my detector during good hunting weather, so I just held off until the ground was good and frozen and I couldn't hunt anyway. I called up Fisher a couple of weeks ago and got a return authorization to return it. It turns out that my coil was bad and that they hadn't seen one quite like it. The president of Fisher called me twice and he had another Fisher representative call me also. The customer service was very good. They said that they were giving me a new coil and that I will receive it in a week.

I'm really looking forward to the ground to thaw, so that I can go out and try it. They said that with the defect that they found, that the performance will be a lot better with the new coil. I sure wish that I had a good coil from the beginning. I went on a few club hunts with quite disappointing results. Oh well, I can go back to the places that I hunted last year and see what I missed.

These darn Winter months last too long. I want to get out and go detecting.

Happy hunting for you guys that can this time of the year. The rest of us are jealous. John
