Well, I'm a newbie to the hobby. I began back in the spring and have run through about 10 detectors since beginning. (buy, try, sell & trade) No new ones, all used. I do a beach trip twice a year and enjoy that but I also getting out at the local parks, schools, fairgrounds, woods etc every chance I get. At the moment I enjoy my GTI 1500, Pioneer 202 and an older Radio Shack Discovery 2000. I'm 52 and am absolutely "hooked" on detecting. I'm in western NC.
I guess that's about it. Thanks for allowing me in the forum.

Oh yeah, I'm trying to figure out the best shovel style digger and knife style digger to buy. You fine folks got any suggestions, by all means let me know. My wife keeps asking what I'd like for Christmas and I already know....just not sure which ones.

Thanks again!

Hello and Welcome neighbor I'm next door in NE Ga..As far as digging tools, I'm not sure.I was using you're garden variety spade from Lowe's till the handle broke so I cut 2 pc's of 5/8 rebar 8" long and welded it to make a handle.Works pretty well for me.Make sure you share some of you're finds with us and
Good luck hunting...

Welcome to the forum Curt! Lesche does make a fine digging tool but a bit overpriced, be prepared to shell out big $$$ for any product tied to TH'ing. There is also a time and a place for a spade/shovel, but makes for allot of extra weight to carry and tends to be pretty tough on private property and lawns. Here's a link to my digging tool of choice (hope the link doesn't get garbled up by the higher powers that be) comparable to a Lesche at a fraction of the price. very rugged and sturdy and busts through any roots for around $12.50 at any home depot. Cool! Thanks for the info ! I look forward to visiting here regularly. Hope to post some photos of finds when I can figure out how. hehehe

Thanks for the heads up on the Ames digging tool. I'm heading to my local hardware to see if they carry it.

I've only seen them at Home Depot, but am sure others would carry them too. Here is the same thing but a little nicer, Ames True Temper Jackson, a little nicer, a little pricier, but comes with a sheath. TC, JJ
