I guess all good things have to come to an end. Elson's last morning in Idaho

Our friend was a little tired after 2 days of hunting. He might have had sore fingers from me prying them out of the dashboard of my 4-wheel drive after we got over the mountain. He decided to leave for Vegas at noon, Sunday. We did manage one more short hunt at my water huntin' spot. He wanted to try out his AT in the water. I took a thermometer to test the water temp and for some reason he decided to hunt the dry ground instead. He said " 44 degrees? My ice box is warmer than that!!!" and refused to wade out. Oh well. It was a lovely morning and we had a great place to hunt. I warned him that I had hunted the heck out of this place last year and that it had only been opened to the public for 2 weeks this year. With few new depositers the finds could be pretty slim. He headed out to the vollyball court first.

Then he hit the beach.

I'm afraid that the only jewels sparkling that day were dancing on the water.

We did manage some fresh coins and one junk ring, and we rid the world of a few dozen pull tabs. We took my Grandkids along to spend a little more time with Pap pa Elson. I got them to pose for one last picture before we headed home, and Elson pulled out for Vegas. He commented that he had never been to a beach where there was a rattlesnake warning posted. Anika 12, Elson ?, and Zak 8, all smiling for the camera.

We all had a wonderful time with Elson, just like always. It is so nice to spend time with a real Southern Gentleman and great friend. Those who have spent time with him will agree. I can't wait for next time, I'm making plans! DC
