I got those Titanium, Tungston, Stainless steel blues!!!

Two rings that looked good in the scoop,...but once in hand and feeling no weight to them, the thrill is gone!..
After lunch hunt on the falling tide found keys, change and 2 rings.............. Stainless Steel Lord's Prayer & thin titanium
Last 5 rings found: stainless, tungsten, stainless, titanium, stainless....:rage: GL ALL

Young fellow I work with said he lost his first ring (platinum), replaced it with white gold, lost that and replaced it with titanium. Says if he loses titanium ring the replacement will be stainless.
tvr

Yep the rings are just as disposable as the marriages! It's a shame but it's mostly true.

Sure aren't worth much but at least you are getting out, I haven't touched the water for two weeks.....I'm having withdrawals.

Cliff

I feel your pain! been there and done that. This is a tungsten ring I got awhile back and just like yourself, the let down is so.........................ugh! Keep swinging because the gold will come sooner or later!

Ouch! Those are just awful! It does say you were in the right place with the right gear and listening for the right tones...it also says a lot about the marketing ability of jewelers, an uneducated client base, and just how rare its getting to find gold and Plat and silver..nice work though, shoulda been a day to remember!:clapping:

CJ.......Amen brother!

tvr.....I've heard from others the same thought as to replacing lost rings b4.

BH......... So true! They sure don't do the, "till death do us part", like our (my) parents did.

FS..........Don't count on it!

Cliff.....Hope all is well? Seen Stan the other morning out in the water.

GS....I was thinking they might make a nice wind chime.

Mud......Awful is right, especially the thin titanium!! I thought it was a key ring or something. I'm not so sure the jewelers are to blame, they just carry what people want and can afford too buy these days. Even Tiffany is selling titanium rings now.

Been there and done that! I found every piece of costume jewelry known to man, I think, before I found my first real gold ring. And that was about a month ago, lol!
You're hunting in the shallow surf, right? About knee deep, or less, at low tide? I have a vacation planned on the Texas coast in two weeks, and I'm trying to soak up as much info as possible. I'm anxious as can be, too, lol. I hope I don't step on any toes with all the questions? I know better than to ask a fisherman all his secrets, :)

What an interesting thread. I've found my share of those along with a little gold. It always reminds me of the basic detectorist question, namely, can you cherry pick the gold, silver, platinum, etc. and realizing you are passing up some desirable targets, find enough to make it worth cherry picking [if you could]. I think a lot of us got into detecting because we thought we could. If you could, it begs the question of which detector and most of all, I guess, which techniques to use. Then again, just grab a sensitive, waterproof PI and dig every single target.

In reply to J.I.W.T. prior post..........I think it's a detectorist's dream to own a gold only dedicated machine. There again, it's like asking the question, is there a cure for the common cold?. I think probably there is out there in pharmaceutical land but they will lose billions of $'s on all the other cold remedies so while the question is asked from time to time, this particular question goes un-answered.
I'm 100% sure that the government with all it's $'s and scientific resource's has the technology to make a gold only detector but I don't know about the metal detecting manufacturer's ability or desire to make one?.....I just don't know.
Meanwhile, down on the beach, I dig everything (including tungsten rings) except what I'm sure is junk like bobby pins and the like!

dgruff.....Pay particular attention to tides. High and low tides can account for where people spend their time in the water during each day. When I'm out hunting during the day I take notice were the majority of the swimmers are congregating on that tide, and apply it to future hunts. GL

Thanks for the info, Bob! I've already been studying the tide charts. I plan on doing a little fishing while I'm there, too.

Love that water Bob! You will get back in to the Gold soon, it seems to come in streaks..just like the junkers....

These are the junkers I found last summer but in all fairness, I did find about 25 gold and silver rings to go with these "junkers". One big stainless ring does have a gold inlay on the outside but even the pawn shop wouldn't buy it....lol Hope this summer is better.....HH

Make that last 6 rings found...add another tungsten from this afternoon and a dud stud!!

OBN.. I've fished, surfed and skied these waters all my life, love it. Freaked out back in Jr. high when my parents put the house up for sale and wanted to move back to NY....I must have thrown a dozen For Sale signs off the dock till that idea was squashed.
John(TX)...I've got a few of those titanium & tungsten rings with the 18k stripe or a diamond......Nothing more than a pig with lipstick. LOL
GL ALL

I have found stainless steel, but no tungsten or titanium rings. Maybe that says something about the Australian society....I dont know.....maybe titanium and tungsten aren't sold out here....I have no idea. Finding a ring is always nice; it's nicer if it's silver or gold (or palladium or platinum). HH
