My AT Pro was waiting for me when I got home last night - along with a Pro-Pointer and a Lesche digger! Thanks to Bart at BigBoys Hobbies for the good deal and fast shipping! I didn't have any time to do more that put it together and turn it in.
I haven't noticed any glaring problems with it yet. It doesn't seem to false when I shake or bump it (the serial number starts with 511). The dimmable recessed lighting in my family room made it go nuts, though, but I suppose that's to be expected. I did take it outside for a few minutes before it got dark. It didn't seem to want to ground balance the first time I tried (no varying tone when pumping it, number stuck solid at... 90, maybe) ... but perhaps it just happened to be pretty close to balanced when I turned it on (?). Later, I tried again and seemed to act like I expected and balanced around 80. Probably a "user issue". I'll give a better report after I have a chance to play with it a while. I'm taking off work tomorrow specifically to spend the day messing with it and seeing how it does.
I'm pretty much a noob, currently have a Bounty Hunter Tracker IV and have only been out about 20 hours with it. I'm still trying to find decent places to hunt and have only found about $10 in clad and one silver necklace. I guess my interest is mostly old coins, not so much in racking up clad or beach hunting. I'm hoping the AT Pro will increase my odds, but I suppose the most important factors are: the user's ear, persistence and patience... and what sites he can find to sweep over. So I'll be working on those things as well as learning the AT Pro. Wish me luck!
