I Got One Beautiful Coin Today

I used some of my MDing money to buy this 2007 American Eagle One Ounce Silver Proof Coin. It is a really great looking coin. The background is so shiny you could use it for a mirror. It came from the US Mint.

Go bury it in a tot lot and video it. When you see the expression on his face and his reactions. You could win $10,000 on AFV.

I think I will keep mine locked up.

Yep! It happens.

First time I ever saw gold coins was in grammar school many moons ago.
Another kid brought in some very valuable american coins.

No end to what ends up at school.

I just bought one of the 2007 Silver Eagles from Uncle Ken's Coins in Kansas...Very lovely sealed item...I bought it for my Grandson's College fund...He is only 2 1/2 now...By the time he is 19, hopefully it will increase in cost by a good deal...it cost me $17.00 in beginning of December. Any Gold rings or expensive jewelry I find will also go to his fund...College paid for with Chucky Cheese tokens...lmao...

Put down the Pull-Tab and walk away slowly!!!

They do say "One Dollar" on the back. I can see some first or second grader taking a few for lunch money. I have also seen photos at this site of dirty, obviously buried, US Eagles. Amazing what folks lose.

I started buying them the first year they offered them in the envelope your tax refund came in. Bought about 5 proofs and 5 Uncs each year from 1986 to 1989 until I got out of the Navy and became a starving college student. I have been trading them with other collectors to complete a collection of proofs and only have a few more dates that I need. Best looking "coin" the mint is currently making except for maybe the gold bullion eagles. That's why I love walking libs. The platinum eagles are nice too but way out of my price range.

Hope your next post is a proof gold eagle.

Chris[/quote]I wished it was too but I just didn't find that much change MDing this year. Maybe in 08.

I've seen coins like this advertised. Is this really a good long term investment?
Never thought much about investing in coins.

I am not sure about investment. I just like the looks of them and they are "free" for me (using detector money).

We are in a roaring commodities bull market. Over the last 100 year time frame, these bulls last about 17 years each.. Since this one started in 2000, we have about 10 years to go,before it maxes out. The market analysts I follow figure gold will top out at $5000-10000 per oz, with silver aywhere from $100-500 per oz.
The silver supply is tight, and combined with the dollar dropping, silver will fly to unbelieveable heights. Accumulate and sit tight. Even if silver were to top out at only $75 , thats still a 500% return on todays prices. Not to shabby.
The current bank credit mess reminds me of....................1929.

Nice looking coin for sure bro. I don't get as much in the ground money as you so I can't afford one of those. I do good to use it to fill in for the silver I find CRHing.........

Wonder what the coming recession will do to bullion prices and it's coming at us fast. If you can believe it the lowly consumer makes up nearly 75% of our GDP. When the consumer taps out ( which is very soon ) the economy goes in the toilet. Right now the number of consumers who are ninety days or more behind on credit card payments has risen 60% since last year and the number who have stopped paying altogether has risen 18%. Several million are set to lose their homes next year and more and more consumers are defaulting on their car loans and house payments. It's going to be a doozy.

That's one way to do it. Saw a guy on TV who had saved all his pocket change for 42 years. He took it down and paid cash for a fancy new truck.

Hi Uncle,
Yes they are predicting a serious recession, possibly a depression. The scariest part of all this is the possibility of a serious dollar collapse.
Possibly similiar to what Argentina experienced. Hyper inflation. That would launch the metals sky hi. Metals would be one of the few safe havens.
This bank/ credit crisis will spread thru the entire banking system. Its just starting. In addition to accumulating metal, I'm accumulating canned food
just in case. Hope it doesn't get that bad. Detecting might become my full time job at some point. Bottom line..... time to hunker down for the upcomming storm.
