I Got My Vaquero The Other Dy, Boy Is It Ever Small

Well-known member
Just seeing these in pictures I thought them to be somewhat bigger!
Now, that's not good or bad, but at first when it came in in that tiny little Tesoro box, I thought this can't be real. Later, when I opened it I thought it less real!
A few minutes in my test garden this evening helped out, It Really works!!! :detecting:

Looking at it I don't see how they got,
Four Knobs,
One Toggle,
One Pinpoint Button,
One Speaker,
One Large Cable Connector,
One 1/4" Headphone,
And a 9 Volt Battery Box.
All in that tiny control housing!!!!

But, at 2.2 pounds its going to be a breeze to swing for sure.

I'm warming up to its under size LoL!

Looking forward to better weather.

Just wait till you get some time with it and start looking for better shovel.:goodnight:

Just imagine carrying a Compadre with one knob and a tiny coil and people asking you where you got the toy.:)

Well, a better shovel would go good with a new detector!

I guess when I first saw that little box it was packed in the thought "Toy" did come to mind. And it even had two coils with it!

I had an F2 and thought it was small, although it did have a rather large face.
My Edge is also small, but the Vaquero surprised me for sure.

My brother Ron has the Tejon and he told me that good things come in small packages.

You get a few hours in with the Vaquero and you'll wonder why anyone would want a bigger, heavier detector.

I have a feeling you are already taking to this detector. Some quick tips-The vaquero and cibola are really the only two current detectors that can profit from supertuning.Supertune the vaquero is the threshold fully clockwise.Note if supertuned -do not use the pinpoint button if supertuned. Why?because supertuned the threshold is fully clockwise. If you hit the pinpoint button, you will get a loud blast to your ears.If you are a open field, woods type relic hunter you may want to run supertuned.Tesoro uses a stereo headphone jack.A lot of other brands use a mono jack.I look forward to reading some more comments of this detector.Congrats on the new weapon. :-X

It's just as powerful as many of those bread box style detectors and it won't damage your shoulder. You can swing all day long without pain.:)

I know I thought the same thing.Dont let it frustrate you, give it a chance because it is alot different than an F2,I have one of those also.I remember it took me about 2 weeks just to feel comfortable with it.HH!

Well, its not frustrating but more like the idea of this little thing can't be real?? Can it really do anything at all??
So, I have that first glance TOY impression that I have to get over, because I know from its reputation that's its the real deal.
And when I get it out and it sniffs out a hidden goody all will be good.

Dynamite comes in small packages!!!-----I've owned/used several V's over the years & have never seen a place (area) they didn't work & work well.---You can't go wrong with a Vaquero, it's a great all around detector.
