I got my T-2 this morning!

I have been using a Soverign GT and a Tejon. I think I may well like the T-2 much better than the Tejon, which i got because it's good on relics and lightweight... so is the T-2.
I am on the Bounty Hunter team for a planned hunt in October and need to become really good with the T-2 so any help I can get will certainly be appreciated. I'll use it a lot between now and then. The only thing that threw me a little on my first try with it is the chatter, it seem's a little noisy. The site I was on does not have many good targets left though because I have hunted it several times with the GT and with the Tejon. That's probably why I was getting a mid and low tone with every high tone I hit. I tried it in the 3b tone program and the program with all the tones but went back to the 3b, lot's of bottle caps in that yard.

I'll try again tomorrow!

Congrats Julien,

I've had mine 3 weeks now and am getting to Love it. Let us know how it goes. Regarding the bottle caps, try using the other modes as well, which is what I did, then when I get an iffy singnal I check it in the 3b mode. I like using the db mode often but have been playing with a few of the modes in trash.
Are you used to how fast it is?

I am used to the SovGT which you have to swing really slow.... mo faster is mo better!

Last year a gold coin was found with one and that wasn't even a production model. All you need is some time hunting with it and the luck to walk over the good stuff.

It's not that hard to get comfortable with. I don't know if you had a meter on your GT but if not you'll need to take some time to get aquainted with fast response meters.

Lots of good tips on the forum to help you out and lot of folks with knowledge to share.

The T2 does chatter on some sites. It's a very sensitive machine. If it chatters only when the coil is moving, be sure to ground balance correctly. I suggest using the manual GB feature. You can also try changing frequencies.

If it chatters when the coil is still, it's electrical interference. I suggest turning off any electronics you are carrying such as a pinpointer, cell phone, etc. Then try changing frequencies (pull and hold the trigger, then press the button). There are 7 frequencies you can try.

You can also try moving away from any obvious sources of interference such as power lines. And, you can lower sensitivity, of course. Or, you can just continu hunting and live with the chatter.

On some sites that I hunt with my T2 it doesn't chatter much at all and I can run it at or near max sensitivity.

Remember that it finds targets deeper than it can accurately ID them. I dig any nice-sounding target that is deeper than about 5-6 inches regardless of ID shown.

I usually drop to the 2+ mode on some hits that I think are bottlecaps. They have a distinct sound compared to a good signal.

I am just going to stick with this machine until I know it like an old friend!

Thanks,

That is good to know... I have not been checking depth, i'm not used to having a depth meter. I'll use that tip! I'll probably just live with the chatter, I want the sensitivity. The mineralization is really high here, my front yard is in the magnetite range. i'll try turning off the pinpointer and cellphone if it happens when the coil is still but so far it's been when moving and while it's not been too bad, it seem's like many time's when I hit a good signal it gives a high, med, and low tone. I'll keep at it! If I can learn to use a Tejon, I can learn to use anything...

it's the ground. I tried the manual GB doing it like I do the Tejon where it only make's a sound going down but it still is unstable. I am going to try lowering the sens some but I really don't want to do that... I think a lot of my problem is just frustration at not knowing it's language yet. Once I get learn more what it's saying I will be glad for all the chatter I think. I'll go hunt some more...

Well, when I am doing a manual GB I try to get it so that it makes a sound going down but not up and just past the place where it make's a tone going both up and down. Today I could not GC at all... not manual and not fastgrab, especially not fastgrab...
