I got a steal on a excellent condition Compadre for $100 on craigslist stopped at a park on the way home and im hooked on the simplicity and quality of tesoro. I own 3 bounty hunters (i know some of you are heckling) but in BH defense I find them to be good machines. Anyhow I have the BH505, TR4, and the Quickdraw 2. The TR4 is most similar to the compadre and Im really leaning toward selling off the 2 digital detectors and upgrading to some better Tesoros. Anyhow just wanted to add my testimony on these awesome machines.

Just excited and wanted to share :)

Good for you.

The Compadre is an amazing machine.

Congrats !!!

Nice buy...

I love my compadre too ... I also use a vaquero, it has slightly better depth and discriminates Iron a little better.. But it's not $300 better ;-). It's probably better just do to the manual ground balance.

After also trying the silver umax, tejon, cibola, and Cortez I stuck with the vaquero and compadre.

I really like the cibola too though.

Good luck!

Just got a Compadre. I was torn between it and the Gold umax but decided on the Compadre due to its ease of operation.

I have a couple high-end detectors and think the C's fun factor will be very hard to beat!

After all the researching, reading, practicing, digging and discerning~

You still have to get the coil over the target!

Keep swingn'

I was searching for some lost bracelet charms for a friend. The area was infested with iron and other trash. Spent a few hours going over the area with my XT 705 and now luck. The area is only about 20' x 20' so I covered it from about 3 directions. Today I took out my Compadre I still didn't find the charms, but I found a dime, a penny and many other items that the Xterra missed. Then I went back over the same area again with the 6" dd coil for the xterra and didn't find anything else. The compadre will hang with the big dogs just not go as deep.

Congrats on a great buy. Somebody did not know what they had to give up a Compadre. I even enjoy searching in the grass with mine. Not a deep searcher, but it is nice to go shallow some days when the ground is frozen or dry. My Compadre makes sure I never come home empty handed from a hunt. Hits hard on gold, silver and small jewelry. Acurrately discriminates and never dissappoints. If you have time for a long hunt and are patient, the best performance comes from setting it on the r in iron. If you do not have as much time to hunt the o or l in foil will eliminate most foil and hit pretty good on nickels to. The Compadre is one detector I will not be selling. It just gets better and better the more you learn about it , so simple, yet powerful. Tesoro hit it out of the park with this one.

thanks for the replies everyone, I just had to update you all. I took it out this morning and I can't really say it was the detector today, but i found a 8 gig iPod touch buried in the sand had sand in all orifices and screen scratched to hell, took it home blew it out with compressor and plugged it in and wallah it works only problem is the scratched screen and 2 small cracks in the underlying lcd I searched ebay and found both replacements for $17 shipped, im going to replace it and have a new ipod. BTW it was locked so I couldnt get owner info only way to make it useable was to restore it, can't believe someone could lose something that big.

I think the compadre is bringing me some good luck
