I Got Another Gold Coin Today......

The price of gold is dropping ($877.01/Ounce) and is down considerably from what it was a short time ago....over $1000.00/Ounce. I went to my local coin store to buy some more 2x2 coin wraps, and he showed me some new coins he had just come in. He sold them for what he bought them for. I am guessing that gold will soon go above the $1000.00/Ounce mark and stay higher then it is right now. I bought it! It cost me $49.00 Canadian.

I am planning on buying one gold coin a month as as long as the price remains below $1000.00/Ounce

Can I have one of your old ones???

That is a little bitty one but hey, it is still gold.

Love it. I would have certainly paid 50 bucks for 1/20th of an ounce of gold. This begs a question. Have you found a gold coin while treasure hunting? A silver dollar?

I am formulating my own penny to "silver" coin system based on your idea. I deposited all my 2007 clad in the bank but haven't spent any yet. I am thinking a few silver dollars at the end of the year but I'm still undecided.

Chris[/quote]Useing your found money to buy gold or silver is a good thing. I have bought some of each with my found money.

I buy the mint gold commemoratives about every year with my tax refund. I am way ahead on almost all of them. I am missing about half mostly from 2000 on and I would like to try to complete the set. Maybe with MD swag. This years first set of Bald Eagle Commemoratives are about the best they have ever issued. I bought the three coin set and the two coin set so far. The three coin set sold out fast at the mint but the price hasn't seemed to take off on the secondary market.

My MD to silver scheme is just going to involve pennies. It will take some time to gather enough for a nice coin. I could probably get a circulated common date with my 2007 pennies now. I was also thinking about silver coins from the year of my birth (1964) which I can buy at melt and sometimes a whisper below.
