I Got A Hot Tip On Where A Gold Ring Was Lost :jump:

A precise location at that. An area about 50' x 50'. I grab my Tesoro Bandido II

Dang, Tabman, no wonder you didn't find that ring. You was too busy digging all that trash.

Mike

all that trash can mean only one thing...another gold ring is in your near future :)

There ain't a beep left in that 50' x 50' area. Hunting in the no motion all metal mode doesn't leave anything behind. There's absolutely no masking.

Normally, I wouldn't dig every target like I did, but I felt certain that the information that I received was good about there being a gold ring there.

A better option is to hunt in the no motion all metal mode until there's a target response and then flip over to the discriminate mode that's set at its minimum setting.

If there's any kind of response in the discriminate mode, no matter if it's broken and weak , dig because it's something more than iron. Maybe some micro gold jewelry.

The advantage of doing this way is there won't be many weak targets missed. The no motion all metal mode really sounds off on them.

The funny thing about finding gold rings, they pop-up when you least expect it.

Tab I am a member of the ring finders, and so far I have, not found one ring I probly have got 12 calls what the problem is is somtimes they think they know whear they lost it on one occasion a guy lost his ring in a park and he told me exactly whear he parked and i missed the ring by 1 ft i went from the car to the tree and turned left instead of right i then started gridding the whole park, the guy came back and found it after the snow melted - ( only 2" of snow) one lady lost hear ring in her yard and i could not go look for it but another guy did he had a 2500 dallor machine but little did he know it was white gold and he should have been doing what you just did ALL METAL because white gold is nasty to find with any discrimination . you cant even disc out foil and you will loos white gold but ya so far I have found no one ring exept a logger who gave me the exact spot maybe 500 sq feet and the ground was clean , but you also may want to try threshold all metal but turn down the treshold to the middle of the black circle just left of the T in tesoro what that does is eliminate most of the junk and you will still hit hard on a gold ring Good luck keep expanding the grid you just may find it

No one can say you didn't give it a good try.. I have searched for a few rings during my seven years of detecting, but have only recovered two so far.
The folks that lost these two knew within a small area where they were lost which helps a great deal and one even remembered after 20+ years where ring was going to be within a very small area.. even at that, it took about 2 hours of my buddy and I searching before I found it for her.
I believe someone found one of the other rings I was asked to search for, but I believe some of them were where folks thought that was the area they lost it... my buddy has been on more than one wild goose chase.

This is how I always hunt with my switched machines...set it at iron or 2-3 and then search in all metal, if I get a hit toglle over and check it for god or bad target, saves much time.

A for Effort! :clapping::thumbup: I tried to find a ring a lady swore she lost on the sledding hill in the snow when she was taking her gloves off to take a picture...I was there the very next morn and gave a massive sweep of the whole area unsucessfully...I went back 3 times, called her up in between attempts to as if she was SURE she lost it at that spot on the hill or if it could have come off on the other side or something.., she said all she knew was when she got home and got in the house, her ring was gone!..anyway, I told her if she finds it to call me and let me know because this was bothering me...I kept going back...anyway, she called me in the Spring, found it on her front porch sidewalk once the snow melted...

Was this ring a mans or womens? Fresh drop? You might be able to fast sweep and find it right on top...it should give off a good easy to find signal right on top...well, you are a great ringfinder Tab, so if its there you will get it I have no doubts..:
Mud

Mud, all that I had go on was it was a gold ring. The person who told me didn't have all the facts and tried to get a hold of the person who did, but couldn't at the time. It was lost about a month ago. Jim probably got it. Nothing can stay safely hidden around here with him on the loose.:detecting:

I'd like to say again, you did a super great deed returning that woman's gold ring. She looked elated in the picture, even standing next to you.:)

Mark, right now I'm hunted out. :)

After a good rain and the temperature drops a little, I'll run back over it again and post a picture of my trash pile. Maybe with the Compadre just to change things up.

I would love to get a chance to find someone's missing ring for them. I know someone who lost three rings all gold with diamonds all at the same time while on a walking trail. I was excited to get more info and look for them for her cause it sounded like she knew about where she lost them. Anyway after talking it turns out they could have been lost within a 2 or 3 mile stretch along the trail. I don't have that kind of free time on my hands. Would of been nice to find though.

I say you cleaned alot out of that area, gl hank
