I got a emi and metal detector on my smart phone!

Holly cow bat man!.I was looking for a new weather application for the smart phone and i came across the brightess flash light app,so i downloaded it and it worked!.It turns the camera flash into a bright flashlight!Ok so i type in metal detector.And there are a bunch of metal detector apps.One said emi detector and metal detector.And they both work.Could a coil be hooked to a smart phone next?.Anyway after the app loaded i tried the emi detector first and it read average 50 micro tesla.I guess this is the emi measurement term.Then i move it near the plug and the signal bar shot up!Ok next the metal detector.I switch to metal detector and grab my stainless coffee mug and put it to the phone and the bar shot up in the red!. Can you believe this!

Think about that...in the future, all we will have is a coil on a stick, your phone will be the brain by downloading an app...you could try out several mfgs per outing by downloading their proprietary apps...maybe...cool and troubling all at the same time!

I really really dislike phones. And metal detector or not, I would never take a waterproof smart phone diving to detect! Can you imagine interrupting your detecting time to answer you phone? NOT!!!!

There really could be something to this!for real.A smart phone type platform for a detector.Man i bet you could do some wild stuff with that phone app. :O

Spirit, XP Deus might be what you are looking for. It doesn't have GPS or texting, but it is wireless and about the size of a smartphone.

I agree with your idea though. It could be the next step in the evolution of the detector. Just buy a rod and universal coil, use "their" smartphone app.
We wouldn't be talking detector brands anymore...but which detector app is best and has the fewest ads.

I would love to have a deus.The design is so awesome.I am surprised kellyco does not sell the xp deus.I think the detectors of the future will be like a smart phone.

Yep...just think about that for a moment...your phone could even be capable of telling you just exactly WHERE in your area other metaldetectorists are, what program they are using, and WHEN the last time one was at this particular spot, and the path they hunted!! Yes I was thinking about how the Deus is constructed with all the major components in the coil or headset...so its all there for somebody to take advantage of one would think..perhaps one of the MD companies engineers will pipe in to why this can or cant be done...
