I was talking to some guys at work today about fleams. My grand pap had one & I'd mess around with it when I was a kid. So I googled it & the type I messed with came up but there was another type that looked really familiar. I said I dug one like that in the Confederate camp here in Carlisle that I hunt. I had no idea what it was til today. I thought looked too modern to be civil war. I'm glad I didn't throw it out lol. Anyway HH

good thing you didn't throw it away. I once threw a naval shell fuse in the trash because I didn't know what it was. Luckly my hunting partner saw it and rescued it for me. When in doubt don't throw it out! lol

Very cool.

Awesome save. I wish I had saved "questionable" brass items earlier in my detecting career. Lots of good things ended up in my trash.

I found this in the very beginning of my metal detecting adventures. I've kept pretty much everything that I've found in this camp. It's in Carlisle PA. It's the farthest north the Confederate army occupied. I cherish all of the relics from this camp. This is just icing on the cake lol. Only a couple of people have hunted this spot & as far as I know no big brass has been found. No Confederate buttons only yanky. These are the relics from that camp here in my home town. Not much but it's definitely Confederate.

This was just the beginning of my obsession.

Look at all them Gardners !!!!
