I found the Cheese!! :clapping:

Dig

Hey all! I finally did it this morning! I found my first piece of gold. Granted it's not huge (and is onlly 10k) but I found it!! Im still kind of buzzing off the find. Sidekick Jess and I went out early on Lido beach and found it in dry sand behind one of the public beaches. I have gotten out into the water and I have to say I am finding a lot less stuff out there. That and my detector seems to go crazy in the water from time to time. I did find the "pirate hooker" hoop earring out in the drink...so loud it almost blew out my eardrums....lol. Thanks for all the encouragement btw everyone. My second thought after "holy crap it's gold" was " I cant wait to tell the guys on the forum"....

No feeling quite like hearing that sweet signal, digging and seeing the gold. You had a great day for sure and thanks for sharing it with us. Many more coming your way.
Jerry

I use to live around there near Tampa and on the way over to Clearwater or St.Pete...I can't remember which is which....just before the long two single lane bridge "(lord forbid a flat tire) way bridge was a beach called lido beach......I was told by the guy I worked with that it was a party beach and thongs were common and even topless.....till they cracked down on it.....

No better feeling, than finding a gold ring!!!

OK Dig, now yer wrecked! You will wake up in the middle of the night having cold sweats, realizing that there is a low and you need to get there. Also, while you are at work or anything really, the thought can enter your mind so much that you are incapacitated, savvy? It's a crippling situation really! Enjoy it and OBTW, you can never sell that one, gotta keep it for old times sake, savvy? WTG man!

You might want to turn your sensitivity down some when you are hunting in the water. When I saw you on the beach the other night you had it turned up pretty high for a 10" coil. Maybe the Excalibur II can be set higher but the older machines usually run best at the 1 or 12 O'Clock position.

Thanks for the tip! Yeah I have been turning it down in the water but, it still seems to freak out here and there. I will tell you that on the beach when you move from wet sand to dry you can turn the sensitivity down to a pretty high setting and have less and less of a problem. You end up digging some very deep holes though. I am amazed over and over again how deep this thing is finding stuff in the ground. We found a Budweiser can, just the top lid, (you know the old type from the 60's or 70's) buried @ 18 to 22" in the wet sand the other day. LOL we kept scanning it and saying "nope it's still in the hole". Its ridiculous.

... on Lido Beach!

Not the ring but my virginity. Thirty years ago this summer. Recontacted her a little while back when my marriage fell apart. We're likely getting married next spring. There's something special about first loves.

I have very fond memories of Lido.

Well I know that at least I wont be able to find that with my detector.....Especially after being buried for 30 years...it's probably pretty deep by now. lol

... with your detector...

...I don't want it back! :)

I am wearing the Cheese as I type these words  ... as a reminder that there is more cheese out there to be found, of course. It was a fun find, and I was glad to see the goofy smile on Robs face as I jumped up with the shiny.

AND... The Ace250 finally arrived! That means Detecting Battle begins Tonight! :twodetecting:
