I Found Silver Today

TURNMASTER

Active member
OK so it was not a coin, but it wasn't another hunk of silver solder either. What I did find was a small roll of silver leaf about a 1/4 ounce with the paper. Oh well I must be doing something right because I am finding stuff, silver stuff even. It wasn't real deep about 2 inches is all. I hit a copper button from a pair of jeans(?) at about 4 inches.

Not a single coin. I bearly got started though the place is many acres.

The site I started hunting this AM was an old farmstead from the early twenties. The houses were torn down 2 - 3 years ago. Trashy. I see that someone was in there and they only filled about half of their holes. I guess I don't know how recently, but it's been since the houses have been dozed. Found some small aluminum plate they missed and some about a pound of Al. screen, super heavy stuff someone else started to dig and left.
I don't quite know what to expect on the property but at one time in the past it was used to raise race horses for a local track, or so I was told. There were at least two tracks here at one time in history, possibly three. The place was also used to raise rabbits, minks, and chickens, at some point.

Congrats on the hunt! Just take your time and grid it out. Good luck to you! I hope you find some great stuff, Beale.

My first two hours were real careful and methodical, Then I jumped over and hit the apple trees and then it was more or less time to go. The first guy in there was a butcher, I followed his tracks around for a little while. I was courious as to his haphazzard hunt. One empty hole he left was right in the center of a old rusty barrel hoop, hit like an ounce of silver out of the safe. Took about 3 min. to figure what had him stumped as he never did get to the hoop. I started an iron pile I will haul it out after a few more trips. The guy I got the go ahead from was super cool I hope the other guy doesn't reflect poorly on me..
