I found another Walker today

Mark in S.E. IA

Today I went to checkout a place that I saw on an old aerial photo " thanks Randy " but it was too over grown too get back in there. I guess I'll have to wait until next spring to get back in there and check things out. There was a old ball field at this place so I checked it out. This ball field is loaded with rusty nails and wire. The GB # was 8 and every signal I got was all broke up with the numbers in the forty's and sounded like a rusty bottle cap and it was real hard to get a pinpoint on it. I tired backing off on the Sens. I played with the GB and nothing helped, but the depth meter seem to work good. I was finding some clad here and there that was a few inches deep when I come on to a crappy signal with numbers in the forty's and the depth meter showed 3 arrows deep. I checked it out and it turned out to be a Rosie. A few feet from there I get the same crappy signal that showed 3 arrows deep and that turned out to be a Merc. About 10' from there I get the exact same signal as I did with the Rosie and the Merc and that turned out to be a 41d Walker. I think that I am seeing a pattern here. I need to dig any crappy signal the shows 3 arrows or deeper. I dug a lot of nails by doing that but I also found some more nice coins. For the day I ended up finding the Walker, a Merc, 2 Rosie's, 8 wheat's and a Missouri tax token and I only covered a small area of that ball field.

Those walking liberty halves are one of the most beautiful coins period (IMHO).
Looks to have been a good day.

Pretty lady!!!:clapping:

Very nice! I always have a hard time digging the "iffys" but that sure seems to make it worth while!

another great day mark, how many walkers u dig this year? I am up to 3 so far.

Thanks "G", I'm up to 5 walkers now.

Silverfix, you got that right. I'm guessing that I well be going back to that ball field several times, lol

You're having a great year Mark. Congrats again. I still think you could reduce the number of old - deep nails by using multiple tones and all metal.

Combines are hitting the fields over on this side of the State. It won't be long now!!! HH Randy

I plan on going back to the ball field tomorrow and I'll try the AM with multi tones. I'll try anything at this place to get a clearer signal.

The combines are in the fields over here too and It'll be nice to get back in to the fields. If I can figure out a good way to set up the 505 at the ball field that I am working now in turn it well help me at the ghost town because that field has real hot ground with alot of iron and hot rocks.

I don't remember what coil you said you were using at the ballfield. But if you have the small DD, give it a shot. And work it slower than you can imagine. What I've done is toss some coins and nails down on the ground and see just how slow I can sweep over them, and still maintain enough motion to provide audio responses on each target. For me, it turned out to be much slower than I had been sweeping in the past. And although you mentioned you had lowered the sensitivity, don't hesitate to drop it down halfway. I realize dropping the sensitivity will cause a loss of depth. But if your area is that congested, it is better to separate those targets that are 6 inches or less than it is to mask out everything. (like driving with your bright beams in fog) If all metal doesn't work out for you, try rejecting only the highest positive notch. Typically, iron will have a tendancy to bounce between the lowest ferrous and the highest conductive. (reference my explanation of circular discrimination) If you're wide open, the sound of the high tone may override what you hear of the low tone. Notching out the highest conductive TID (nulled out) could provide enough broken signal that you will be able to differentiate those targets with the audio response. Let us know how it goes! HH Randy

Digger, I was using the 10.5 DD 7.5 coil and the only other coil I have is the stock coil. I'm going to give your tips a try and hopfully they well work.

Nice finds! Being you only covered a small area, I Can't wait to see what you find when you go back!
