I found a solution for keeping the Digimeter knob where you set it...

I have a Soverign GT with a new Digimeter that I got from David at Dixie and everytime I turn around I was having to recalibrate it because the knob is poorly placed, very sensitive, and very easy to knock off it's setting.

Solution: one of those big rubber bands from the post office. Double it up and wrap it around the bottom of the front, below the display, up around the top of the meter and around the control knob. It holds it in place very well without putting too much pressure on the knob or scratching anything. Simple and easy. Mine was still set correct the next day after an hour of use the previous day!

Whatever works.

The balance point on my 2a was about at the back of the meter, and carrying it was an invitation to bumping the knob.

My GT balances in front of the meter with most coils, so is not a probem.

One of those things...............

You get used to avoiding physical contact with the meter.......at least the back side of it.

Was detecting one day and had 2 or 3 zinc hits on the meter. Tone was clad. Did not figure. Just walked on. Next hit, dug it up and found that the meter was off by just the right amount to read clads as zinc.

Did not go back because the hits were too strong to be anything good.

So I left a couple copper or clads...........big deal.

If they had been weak hits, I would have dug them without looking at the meter.

That is one way to do it as long as it works, I took and put rubber band behind the knob as it made it harder to turn when i used the digital Minelab meter and stays calibrated real good. Some have even took the black knob off and just turned the shaft too as that worked too as it was harder to knock out of calibration. I am sure others have found a way too that works for them.
I use the Sun Ray DTI 3 on my GT and I will say the calibration stays real good as it just has the shaft to turn and being it is smaller makes it harder to knock out of adjustments.

Good luck with your GT as it is one great detector.
