I found a ring for a guy today...

I was hunting a little park when a guy comes up to me and says he lost a silver ring about a year ago next to the basketball court. He described the ring and I said that since it was silver and was lost only a year ago that I might be able to find it. So, I proceeded to dig all the quarter type signals first and within an hour I found it. It was my best find of the day. Got lots of quarters today and 3 wheats.
He told me where he lived but he wasn't home when I got there. I just left it with his daughter and I'm hoping she has the gumption to give it to him. LOL.

Good story Neal. I'll bet she gives the ring to her dad:thumbup:
That was very nice of you!

You get an attaboy and sure are an asset to the hobby....for next time some sterling silver rings especially smaller ones could come in dime or somewhere in between dime and quarter...
My local dealer usually calls me rel lost gold jewelry and although haven't found them all have returned some valuable and some sentimental lost items along the way...and had a lot of fun and challenges...never accept any money but the wife and I had a few nice suppers from gift cards given by grateful losers....

I've found silver rings, small ones, that read like Indian cents. I was figuring this was man's silver and big enough for a quarter signal so I started out getting those out of the way first because there were sooooo many dime/penny signals. If it was a gold ring it would probably still be there because the general area was too large to try the hundreds of lower conductive signals. I have a school near my house where I am trying to dig many lower conductive signals and after 10 trips have yet to uncover any gold there. I've gotten a few buffalo nickels though and other interesting items though. It's fun but when it's hot like this I don't last too long doing that.
