I found a HUBLY!!

A demo-ed house was vacated and I moved in. I was getting 6" deep green memorials cents. not a good sign. That means the good stuff is deeper. No relics or old pieces of metal. After 1 1/2 it was time to move on. This is the last house at the top of the hill. Not real old but it could hold some silver. It had two strange rock things setting in the yard. One is in the shade on the side yard and the other is in the back.

This is looking down the street standing in the same place I took the other picture. The first six houses in the picture I have already MD'ed. No one lives in those houses.

Never found much today, in two weeks they will demo these houses and scrape the ground. I alway do better and find the deeper loot. I thought this was part of a pocket watch, but my dad doesn't think so. He said it is too heavy. It's the right size.

I found a Hubly flint lock cap gun. Hubly made cap guns from 1920 to 1965.

There was a family moving out of an old home farther down the street. A nice old home. I didn't want to brother them while they were moving, but in a few days I will be MD'ing it. I don't have to worry about someone beating me to it. I have been doing this for a year here and I have seen no one else MD'ing. Did see some old stones in the grass. Looks like an old foundation. Might be where the square nail and the iron ring came from. This is the total.

Nice finds. To bad the cap gun isn't in better shape. What about that toy boat trailer. That's different. You sure have some good opportunities there Big John.

Great pics once again, and interesting finds. The ground there just loves to eat iron, eh? Have you been in other parts of the state where it's less mineralized and the stuff comes out cleaner? Just curious about the soil, it makes me appreciate the good conditions I generally have where I am.

And maybe someday the planet will tip on it's axis or something and we'll be in two of the wealthiest states in the Union, rather than two of the poorest. I'm currently researching a WW1 airfield site about 15 miles away (they used Curtiss JN-4 Jenny's as trainers) that operated 1918-20, which was later turned into a CCC camp about 1935. I'm having a hard time locating it, the locals aren't too up-to-date on the history in their back yards.

Good luck with the house up the street, it looks like you're doing pretty well with the demo places.

Who remembers hitting a box of caps with hammer in their garage or basement? My ears sare still ringing. Does anybody even sell caps anymore?
