I found a gravesite

My buddy Dave and I were detecting the downslope area of a local park that required jumping a fence to get outside the park. It is an area where vagrants hang out and sleep and continues downward into a valley. Lots of chapparal plants and overgrowth. The park has some history to it and we figured we might find some old coins just outside the park boundary. I had been doing ok, finding clad quarters and an old ring with turquoise when I got a strong, shallow signal below an old pepper tree. I scraped away some dirt and saw red. Red metal. A tin heart-shaped candy box. I opened it and saw a pink facecloth. I unwrapped the facecloth and found a freshly dead blue parakeet, surrounded by birdseed, a necklace with block letters that had what I assume was the name of the bird. I forget the name, it had something to do with singing. There was also a small bell, the kind that you find in birdcages.

I took a few photos with my cellphone, but haven't figured out how to email them to myself yet. Thanks for reading. - Jim

Please tell me that you properly reburied it like I know you did!

Probably wouldn't fit you anyways.

E-mail it to your computer e-mail box..

I too have found a container with dog bones and a dead frog once. I have also found lots of marked graves from pets in the woods. I guess people need to grieve and get some closure from losing their pets also.
