I found a Diamond Ring!!

Beale

New member
I went back to that same school that i found the nice silver ring last week. I was out right in front of the main entrance and got a real iffy nickle/foil hit on the X-70. I dug a plug and found a nice 10K gold ring with I thought CZs?

My wife workd at a jewelery store soe we went and had it tested. Well guess what they are real!! Total weight of diamond is right at 1/4K. The ring is now on my wifes hand, Beale.

Wow very nice ring there beale, you find all of the good stuff.

Nicely done! I found an old ladies gold ring with an opal setting out in the middle of nowhere with my PI unit when I was nugget shooting. My old lady kept that one, too.

Congrats on the ring Beale, what a beauty! You shouldn't have any problems convincing her it's time for a hunt for awhile now:lol:

What was the TID and depth if you don't mind?

Now see that is not fair, you found the owner of your ring as soon as you got home. Great find.

Great Find Beale,

You say the return was "iffy".

Was it jumping around, did it go into the minus or just low numbers ?

How high, 12 ?

What were your approx settings?

Great Job,I'd say your really learning that 70 alright!!!

Hey all thanks for the nice comments. As to TID and settings. I was running auto GB, and noise cancel. The TID was jumping between 10-12-14 and just would not lock on. The ring was down a good 4" at least.

It for sure was a thrill, Beale.

For what it is worth, I suspect the signal of 10-12-14 for this ring was exactly correct for the 70 as opposed to being "iffy". I am learning that target shape has an awful lot to do with how the detector reacts to it. (As well as size and conductivity)

Your ring (I mean your wife's ring) looks to have a fairly large face. If the other side is thinner as opposed to a perfectly round band, and was lying flat, the 70 would see it as larger on one side as you sweep across it and smaller on the other side, thus displaying different numbers. I have also learned to trust the audio just slightly more than the visual when it comes to signal consistency. The only reason I throw this in is that I learned this the hard way and used to a pass on targets that did this knowing this is what square pull tabs ring in at on my machine.

Anyway congrats again on a GREAT FIND!
