I found a Colt 45 pistol

Mark in S.E. IA

Today I got permission to MD a huge lot just down the street from where I have been MD'ing the past 2 weeks. Things started off real good when I found 5 wheat's in one hole in the first 10 min's, then it went dead after that. I was finding a wheat here and there and then I found a 9 wheat pocket spill. I thing that's the most wheat's I have ever found in one hole. A little after that I found a cool sterling silver Colt 45 pistol tie clip and that turned out to be the best find of the day. My other finds for the day was a 46 Rosie, 41 nickel, a piece of play money which I lost somewhere in my house, lol. I also found 2 keys and a total of 23 wheat's. I don't know what the deal is with this lot, but I'm finding a lot of wheat's and only 1 silver coin so far. I hope the silver coin finds start getting a little better.

Whenever I hunt an old yard or lot and don't find much if any silver, I always wonder if early on when detectors came out with discriminators on them, if someone didn't hunt them with everything except silver disc'd out??? I still like finding wheat pennies. If you are finding them, you know the site was used way back when, and if they had any silver that they lost it too. WTG! Keep up the good work and HH. Bob.

PS-what kind of vdi did you get on the multi wheat spills?

That's kind of what I was thinking, that somebody has MD'ed this yard in the past and disc,d out everything below a dime.

On the wheat spills, the numbers were jumping from 30 to 42 and I didn't see #42 all that often.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When I hunt around a old house, or in a city park, I always find more pennies than anything else. I think it is simply because 1- people routinely have more pennies in their pockets than any other coin, 2-when people drop a penny, many times they won't stoop to pick it up due to it's low value, 3-I think people many times simply throw pennies away, or at another person.------ Many of the people who utilize the park, and school playgrounds, are young children, who might carry a few pennies,-- but most likely not many dimes, quarters or 50 cent pieces. -- On the other hand when I hunt behind or under bleachers at schools or sporting facilities, I will find more mostly dimes, and quarters, a few nickels, and an occasional half dollar. I think this is because of the ratio of adults to children at the location, plus the purse spills, and pocket spills. -- I have hunted some areas that pennies abounded, but hardly anything else. Basicly, as a society, we have no respect for the lowly penny. I do my best to not dig pennies, passing over most every target that I think is a penny. Yes, I undoubtably miss a few good finds, buy I think I make up for it by spending more time finding and digging the higher ID's only when coinshooting.----- Relic hunting, or combo coin/relic, I will dig most everything, especially if deep. I am a little sore and slow due having broken my neck (C1 & C4) about 5 years back, so I am probably a little more chooosy than some. ........just my opinion.............

Great video....With some real nice finds!

Never seen a pin like that , i like it i have a real colt revolver best pistol I have.

Congrats on the very nice hunt! I really like the pistol tie clip! That is so cool! Sweet finds, Beale.

Great finds Mark! You and that 505 are cranking out awesome finds. Keep up the pics & videos.

Do you find a big difference in performance between the stock coil and the 10.5" 7.5 coil?

Yep, The stock does not work very well in the hotter ground I have around here. The 10.5 DD MF coil is the only coil I use and I love it.

Those Colt's are nice, But I have a Kimber Eclipse Target ll, 45 semi auto.

I went back to that lot today and found 25 wheat's and a silver ring. So far from this lot I have found 48 wheat's and only 1 silver coin. I think this lot has been cherrypicked in the past by somebody that is very good with his MD'er.

Cool gun did you find any dilver bullets with it. tehehe

I dig pennies because there are a few that are worth the effort. Well I think all wheats are worth the effort. That is me.

I see in the pic that the clip is gone off the pistol, did you keep it?
