I Found A Civil War Bullet in Buffalo

We did some hunting this Holiday weekend in spite of all the other stuff going on

Went back to some Old Parks and I found a Bullet that was different, heavier, larger and open bottom with black powder

I saw it before on some Forums and after I consulted a friend who is a very experienced detectorist and we both agreed-Civil War Era Bullet! WOW

I also found the "Coin" that was fun to find but is not Silver

Brian found the Mercury and most of the Wheat's and the Decorative item which is very heavy

Your bullet sure looks like a Minie ball to me.
Maybe it was a troop organizing area during the war.

"minie ball"

Not sure what that is but I have found other 1863 items in this area and in this Park

I recall that I once heard a historical presentation and there was an indication that some CW troops were stationed in the area

And i want to share i have a friend who lives in the South (born and bred) and he commented that he was sure there was no fighting in our area:blink:

Hey, 1812 they burned Buffallo down!

The minie ball type bullet was quite common for this era and many of the rifles used by the Army were sold as surplus after the war. We have found an Enfield .577 caliber in a park field here in ohio and a .58 Caliber in a farm yard.
