that unfortunately as I was gently cleaning it, the band just fell apart in my hand
I should know better..as I find really old rings on these beaches up here....the locals tell me that the beaches were inhabited way back in the late 1600's.
anyway, here is what remains of this silver ring; the top has three items stamped in it:
#1) book ...at top
#2) plumb-bob ....at left
3#0 key...to right
The inscription reads:Benjamin Franklin School
I researched this ring...found out that in the early 1900's there were 11 "trade schools" ( that's what tech schools were called back then) in Ct.
And one school in Bridgeport, Ct ( not far from the town beach where I found this ring) used as their school motto a Benjamin Franklin quote "He who hath a trade hath an estate".
I'm still trying to find out the names of the 11 "trade schools " that existed so long ago....I'm not having much more luck finding out where this ring came from .
