Merry Widows was a slang term for a condom and there was three reusable condoms inside...Thankfully the tin was empty of any used ones.....eeew. vintage may be 20's or 30's

Some humor: During the cold war the Russians, attempting some propaganda, ordered 100,000 condoms all 14" long and 4" in diameter from a US manufacturer. It caused great concern so the State Department was asked what to do. A young Texan was summoned and he said, "No problem, just mark them 'Small', and ship them!"

Ha....thats funny

By definition that is what a slang term is.... Officially it is called a condom but it could be called a rubber or back in the old days a slang term was Merry Widow. Another example could be money which is sometimes called dough, moola, or shekels
