I'm building a street dune buggy,But,I will not be scared to hit the woods,beachs,mud,are any where I think I can go.My son Brady and I went got our VWs today,Brady bought one at the same place,His was not as bad as mine.Here is a few pic.

Damn I'm having fun with my boys again.(They work much,we don't have fun like we use too)
 
I can't quite tell but it looks like that bug has the McPherson struts (Super Beetle) and not the torsion beam front end. If that's the case keep it on the street, the strut front ends don't like off road. Back in the 80's-90's I used to own a VW performance shop and we built many Baja Bugs. We sold an adapter to convert the Mcpherson strut front end to the Kingpin beam, which was by far the best choice. Good luck with the project, bugs are the best fun you can have.....next to metal detecting that is!
