I forgot how much fun BH detectors can be.

Hey there. Yesterday's weather here was on and off rain showers and lots of wind. Instead of taking one of my more expensive detectors out I took my BH Pioneer 505 with the 4" coil. Its been a while since Ive used this set-up. No spectacular finds but I had a great day out even in the rain. And of course the 4" coil got into those places no other size coil would fit. I also forgot how light this detector is. Lots of fun out on a rainy day. HH. Matt

Hey matthias, I have the Pioneer 505, haven't used it yet. How deep is it able to go in discrimination mode vs all-metals mode? I've read that it goes deeper in all-metals mode, but the tone is the same for all metals. And how about stock 8" coil vs 4" coil depth? Can it find coins 6-8" down in discrimination mode with the 8" coil? Thanks.

Honestly I have not spent much time truly testing the 505's capabilities. I just set it and go have fun. I believe it will be at its deepest in all-metal mode. The stock coil will be deeper than the 4" coil. I believe under the right soil conditions you will get 6-8" in discrimination mode. I really enjoy my 505 and I have made some good finds. I mostly use it for first time hunters and really tight spots using the 4" coil. HH. Matt

Yesterday I searched two large piles of clay and dirt dumped by the local power company from a nearby project. The BH 505 with 4" coil was awesome for covering all the tight spots. Found only clad yesterday but it was only a couple weeks ago I found a gold plated ring in one of these piles. The 505 is so light I didnt mind using it vertically on these piles. Also I didnt even need a pin-pointer when using the 4" coil. HH. Matt

Glad to hear you are enjoying your detector.... keep it up...

Bounty Hunters are great love um. I got a Tracker II hell ive found better stuff with it than my Minlabs. Sometimes the simplicity of a machine makes it even more efective.
