Hey everyone! Jess and I just came back from an evening hunt and I thought I would share with you a picture of a ring I found tonight. This is my second gold ring and it is a mens 14k wedding band (it is marked 14k and f4...I have no idea what f4 stands for). It is very large and is substantial in the hand. It is wide enough that it almost fits over my thumb knuckle. Its quite a thing to look at the sand in your scoop and see the perfect untarnished gold staring back at you. I found it during the fall of tonights outgoing tide in about knee deep water. I need to start weighing my finds I guess. Anyone have any suggestions on scale makes and models??? Thanks again for all the help....

Awesome find!!!!

I would suggest taking a look at some of the MY WEIGH scales. Get one that measures in troy ounces and that has a calibration weight with it. You may pay a little more for a good one but when you send gold off you really want to know exactly what you've got. Mine is the i201 and I really like it.

Very nice ring,Dig
As for the scale,do a web search for "Jewelry Scales".The one I have weighs in oz,gr and dwt.

Congratulations on a great find. I found a ring last year, that has I believe, a similar marking to yours. I was told it is actually "FG" for Frederick Goldman. The "G" is stylized and looks like a 4. I was also told that they are pretty pricey as well. I have attached a picture of the marking on my ring so you can compare yours. HH

Hey WJW thanks so much for taking the time to share your research. It is a Frederick Goldman (its the same mark)! Nice

Yep, that's Frederick Goldman! That will not be the last time you see Mr. Goldman's hallmark either, more than likely. I have had several of his pieces. They are TOP quality, for if you see FG, that's a VERY good thing Dig! Looks like a NICE chuck too, I LIKE IT!

at harbor freight. I own this one and it works very well!
