This morning I checked the weather radar when I got up and it didn't look like the rain was going to get here until later in the day, so I ran out to the field to see what I could find. I finished covering the whole school yard area in the cornfield today and I found 1914d Barber dime, a 1868 shield nickel, and a 1899 V nickel. About the time I was getting done with the field it started to rain, so I went checking on some other fields/ 1 room school houses that I have been researching. One of the places that I drove by was a nice beanfield and I knew where the owner lived so I went and knocked on his door and got the ok to MD in his field. About that time it stopped raining so I went and checked out the new field.
When I first got to the field I was trying to find a clean spot to GB the MD'er and I got a nice penny signal. When I was looking down to PP the target I noticed the lobes on the coil were starting to brake again. I guess my fix it job 4 months ago didn't work. The target turned out to be a crusty IH cent. Sweet, that the way I like to start a new field, but not having the coil brake, lol. I put on the 9" concentric coil and went back to MD'ing and found 2 more crusty IH's in the first 15 min's. A while later I found a cool key and then what I thing is a button and it's a little different, lol. As I was working my way out the finds were starting to slow down so I moved back to the area that I found the IH's at and was working that area and it started to rain a little. Then it started to rain a lil harder and getting a lil windy so I figure it was time to call it a day and was heading back to the pickup when I got a crappy signal and I don't even know what the numbers were. I shoveled out a good sized pile of dirt and when I saw the coin setting in the bottom of the hole I knew it was a LC just by the size of it, a 1851. Boy was that a nice way to finish a rain shorten hunt.
The IH's are 1864, 1891, 1902. Since the IH's were kind a crusty I put them in some Lime a Way for only 5 min's, I think and they came out a lil cleaner then I wanted them to be, lol
If anybody knows anything about that button please let me know.
