I find it interesting

my Gold Bug Pro in all metal does not hit very good on nails. Even disc set at 0 doesn't hit good on nails. I think that makes the all metal mode in the GBro unique. It hits much harder on coins & larger iron than nails at the same height. Has anybody else noticed this. It changes my thinking on where to set the disc now.

This is true the detector does not like iron. watch going to low in the Disc mode it will hit head of the nails real good however, You can pick the tail off a beaver with these detectors.

I think I had to set the disc at about 36 to eliminate the nail head completely. I still think it's interesting that even all metal doesn't hit very good on a nail. So there is something different in the all metal mode in this detector and disc too.

I can't wait to start using it in the spring. Not far off now.:detecting:

that's when I am using the 5" DD as it's the ONLY coil on use on this model. I am also referring to searches in the All Metal mode.

Make sure you have a proper GB setting and slight audio threshold hum in the All Metal mode, and ample Sensitivity. Also note that while the numeric reference for the Discriminate mode is '0', that's only a numeric reference. The G2/Gold Bug Pro do not adjust down to a true 'zero' setting, also considered an all metal accept setting and able to respond to targets in a dense mineral challenge. Only the T2 in the Teknetics line adjusts that low as I have regularly demonstrated in detector comparisons.

Maybe I'll stick the 11" DD coil on tomorrow and give it a try on the iron nails? I don't know why it wouldn't respond if all is working well in All Metal.

I was using the 5x10 coil. It does hit on the nail in all metal but not good. Turned 90 deg hits on the head of the nail good but with nail turned the long way a week signal where coins hit hard all around. I would think the nail would hit hard on the long way as hard as penny in all metal but it doesn't. One thing I notice the ground doesn't balance the same when froze solid. So I don't know if my ground balance is off.

Good luck Monte, we look forward to your report.

Maybe your machines not working right.Mine only gets 6" depth on anything. Its not working right and I am sending it in for repairs.I still use it-most my targets under 4" in modern parks just not me silver coins arghaaaa....

Rick thanks for the tip with the coins really appreciate it. I set my disc at 30 and all nails I have encountered ring in at 27 and it is tight. There is not much variance even considering decomposition. When in All metal mode the foot print of the 11 dd is so big from a response point of view at some of the sites I hunt it will not work. One of the sites I have it sounds like a machine gun on every sweep of the coil. It will keep you informed
