I finally ordered an ace 250

it was between the ace and a technetics delta 4000 something or other but I've heard so many good things about the ace I had to give it a shot. how do you all think of my decision. was it a good choice or am I a moron

I like my Ace 250. Great little detector for the money.

Made some great finds with mine. Good choice !

McDave you made some really great finds with yours.
It's a great little machine, but you need to learn it like any other detector.

Happy Hunting

Garrett ACe 250
Stock coil
Sniper coil.
Exceleraator 10 x 14 DD

MInelab Xterra 305
Stock coil

Good choice. Some people have been recording some amazing finds with that detector. Just make sure to give it time as each detector has its own personality.

I have an ace250 as well as a teknetics delta. The ace bats the teknetics in my use. I have found lots of good stuff with the teknetics, but the Ace is hard to beat. Several coils are available to make it really shine in certain situations. Sniper coil for really trashy area, while and the excelerator 10x14 DD coil works great for wide open spaces. I liked the 250 so much that I went out and bought a 350, and then an AT Pro. I don't think you can go wrong with an Ace!

I have no experience with this model, but I believe from the posts on this forum you will enjoy it.

You can't go wrong with an Ace for the money. You can buy a better metal detector than an Ace,(150,250,350) but you will pay much more to do it.:)

they are a solid ,ultra reliable well built detector, at a great price. I regret selling mine when I bought the AT Pro as should have kept it for a buddy unit.

Can't beat the 250 for the money. You done good.
I've been running one for over four years or so, and it's
been a good machine. I have the 250 along with the other
two Garrett coils, "sniper and the 9x12", and for a package
that cost a little over $400 for all, it's pretty versatile.
The 250 and the sniper is a mean machine for close
quarters. pun intended.. :)

BTW, I looked at my post and saw I've been here 5 years.
So I've had the 250 for five years, not four.. I started coming
here right after I got it. Haven't had a lick of trouble with it
in that time. Time flies... Doesn't seem that long..

thanks for the responses guys.

I got to take the 250 out to a fresh water beach yesterday morning. only found 3 dimes and 2 pennies(all clad) but I suck at the pinpoint part of the game, since its new to me, and ended up getting frustrated and leaving. but I can go back.

and the 250 is leaps and bounds better than the BH that I have. it has already found better than a hundred trash items that were too small for the BH to sniff out. and, yea, I know it was only trash but it could have been gold jewelry for all I knew:lol: just knowing that the 250 can find these small items gives me more confidence. now if I would just learn when to keep walking and when to dig.

again thanks for the responses

It takes time to get use to what it telling you. I had mine for a over a month now and I am just getting to know what it is telling me and I am getting better at the pin pointing. My first time using it was at a fresh water beach also. I dug alot of trash that first day. Some one must of been shooting a gun there during the off season because I found it seem like a hundred brass shells. I was getting pretty tired of digging them. One thing I learned on mine is Iron will make it beep like there is a coin there but if you look on your screen or have all mettal mode on it will also beep deep tone and show down on the iron scale. It took me alot to get this figured out. Now if it beeps like silver I will slow down and hit it at different angles. If I get high and low tone i move on because in the past I would dig a 12" hole to find a big piece of Iron and no coin no where. So it is a learning curve that takes time.

I've had mine just over a year now. I'm retired. I get out several times a week...sometimes everyday. Since my income is limited I stick with what I've got and let it pay for itself. My ACE 250 has bought me a sniper coil, a propointer, and a Tesoro Vaquero. You'll know when it's time to upgrade....when your machine buys you what you want! The ACE is a very under rated machine. I enjoyed it right out of the box but...I like it much better now that I've learned it inside and out. I buy my batteries in bulk at Walmart (Ray-O-Vac). I ALWAYS carry extras for the detector AND the propointer. I also carry a backpack with food, water, papertowels (or toilet paper). Most of my coins have been at 4" or less and I "pop" them out with a screwdriver. ALL my jewelry has been at 3" or less. There's a lot more expensive machines but I can live with the 10% I can't find for the 90% I can find. Stick with it and take the time to learn it (sometimes you'll get it in about 100 hours of use). Some targets or multiple targets cause it to bounce around but...it tends to bounce fairly consistently on certain targets. I know if it's a copper penny/dime or a clad penny. Act as if you'll never get another detector so you'll do all you can to learn this one! I sometimes use ALL METAL MODE but mostly use JEWELRY MODE. Sometimes I'll "cherry pick" and only have NICKELS and then DIMES TO DOLLARS and notch everything else out! I dig pulltabs (of course!) and have found plenty of jewelry....no pulltabs = no jewelry unless you're just lucky! It's made better than I thought it was...I've used it over 300 times at 4 - 6 hours each time and it's held up. If you have any questions or need some ideas just ask.
