I finally got outdoors for an extended period of time today...............

The weather was perfect, 70 degrees, sunny with light winds at 5 mph. My legs are still swollen, weak, and tingle when I walk, but much better now, and getting better every day. I am finally on the mend and by spring, should be back to normal. I had my camera with me and I really had a great time!

I though about taking a macro bug picture, but the only bug that I saw in the area was a red wasp, best to leave it alone! I settled on this weed picture, and then took another picture of some peppers that a friend gave me. When spring arrives, I will be growing several different types of chili peppers in large, fancy flower pots. I am also going to plant some tomatoes and bell peppers in a small garden in the back yard.

While messing around with the camera, I took a picture of a small statue that I have in my back yard. Many years ago, after my father had passed away, I took my mother arrowhead hunting with me. We found this small statue and some flowers in a large grove of Live Oak Trees off the beaten path. We could find no signs of a house or anything else in the area, just the small statue and the flowers. Mother loved that statue and put it in her flower garden. After she passed away, I brought it to my home.

We brought this with us from the old home place when we moved into this city. Debbie wants to put some small flower pots in the openings. I do not know how she is going to do it, but it should be interesting to watch.

Just before I called it quits for the day, I took a picture of my new orange tree. I need to plant it near our deck when spring arrives, probably in late March. I will probably have to plant it in a larger container before then because it will become root bound if left in that can much longer. It will produce oranges in it's third year.

Well, that is about it for now folks, I am getting a little tired. All I can say is being diabetic is not fun. I made a list of goals for when I am mended and at the top is riding horses again. I really think that I will reach that goal, and strongly recommend folks to not bet against me doing it! Please have a great week! Kelley (Texas) :)

Really nice photos!

Great to hear from you Fred!

I hope you continue to improve and enjoy life Friend,

CJ

Sounds like you have spring plans already in motion. Being its 70 there, what do they call spring temps. I too look forward to spring my friend. Looks like your having a good day with the camera for sure. Those peppers made my head sweat just looking at them. Good pictures. I like the chicken roost. We have one like it here that and old timer gave me. Galvanized metal and the wooden perches out front. Chicken coop is empty now of chickens but plenty of other stuff stored in there. I miss the chickens, but the coyotes were having more fun and dinner more often with them then I was, so I never got more of them. Very relaxing sound to hear them wandering about the yard and barn. The horse riding in spring sounds like a good plan to me. My wife has cabin fever here waiting to get back out of the trails. 3 foot of snow on them now and ice but that will change in another 4 weeks. Jane gets ring sour like the horses do. She would rather be out on the trails. Look forward to some of your riding pictures and trails come spring. Got to way different than here.

Wishing you a speedy recovery..

they now allow us to own a few chickens right in the city, not sure of the rules but usually if the city is involved lots of rules, well at

least people have fresh eggs at their backyards. I had pigeons as a kid, but had to get rid of them because were going in my neighbors window, hopped on the bus with a box full of pigeons and let them free miles away from home.

Well you know pigeons, they were in feeding at their coop even before I came home on the bus :)

The fine folks on this Forum have been a bright spot for me these past few months, After living a very active life, it is discouraging to have an illness try to take the wind out of you. Not having any "quit" in me, I just dug my heels in the ground and laughed at the situation, and made a vow to whip this thing. Life has been good to me and I have much to be thankful for. Kelley (Texas) :)

your pigeons and other things that you have experienced in life. Some of us would really enjoy hearing those stories. Kelley (Texas) :)

From this point forward, every time I see a horse barn being built, I am going to be thinking of the horse barns in your area that had the roofs collapse from all the snow and ice. I will be glad when spring arrives in you area. Kelley (Texas) :)

At our age, we would love to instantly heal [the way we did when we were younger]. Unfortunately, it takes a little longer now... But I know that you will succeed. I am really looking forward to a few pictures of you up on a horse again.

I love the little statue as well. It is funny how little things like that can mean so much to us.

Like you, we have a LOT of snow. And the 'yotes are getting desperate for any type of food. They know the Jacks are here... and those little dogs are/can be foolishly brave. They would not hesitate to go out and take on [and lose to] a pack of 'yotes.

Also, we have chickens too. Little Seabright Bantams. They are pretty good survivors. When they get disturbed, they fly up into the trees. We lose a couple a year to hawks and eagles. But so far, our flock is increasing. We love the fresh eggs too.... if we can only find them. :): Those bantys just LOVE to hide their eggs.

/They have a pretty good run around the house here. The cats and dogs have become fair game for them now. Our bantams would do that also. They would have eggs all over the place. Had a few spots in the walls with caves in them they liked, under all kinds of stuff. All of a sudden we would see all kinds of chicks walking around. Had a bunch of Rhode Island Reds that were good layers. Hawks got most of them over the years. I miss the fresh eggs for sure.
I used to make up gallons of pickled eggs, hot ones...Dig the yokes out, fill with home made horseradish. My mouth is watering thinking about it. Got a warming spell creeping in now. Above freezing today, 14 tonight, 29 tomorrow then a nice 4 day stretch of warmer days and nights above freezing. that will do a number on the ice. I will start plowing off the slush tonight just before night fall....Got to be 6 inches of it out there on the driveway, all frozen for now... Need to promote some drainage off the sides or it will run the length of the driveway...really messes it up....Lot of hills on it so the water gets to moving pretty quick. Sooner I divert it off the better.

keep er between the ditches and easy on the gas.
Nice pics and statue is a neat item. Those Peppers scare the heck outta me, us northerners mostly can't handle those, well some brag that they can but i have seen them go down in flames when they find out what a really hot one is:biggrin:
Were those nests for your laying Hens? I sure envy you folks and your Orange trees!

cabin fever big time this year. It has been warmer during the day but only three degrees this morning. Going above freezing during the day for the next few days though. I would love to see you get on that Motorcycle again too. I enjoyed going on those rides with you. Miss them.

Listen to the doc and you will get it under control. Hard to do though I imagine.

your great State over the holidays, loaded up on the best salsa made anywhere

Boy did Dallas Fort Worth grow since my last pass through, love Texas :clapping:
