a few weeks ago i found the post to get Joes Insight meter to work with the SEF coil , i need a jumper box to put on the S-I pins next to the S-2 pins it was not really that hard to get into the box , i found a jumper exactlly like the one on the S-2 pins i took off a old PC hard drive, it works so far the only change i see is the number,s on the meter instead of a 180 on a quarter or a LC it read 89 - 90 just like my DFX would its no biggy ill try to adjust the meter back to 180 ,i used my S-12 coil for the test , and i will order a SEF 10x12 next week and ill know for sure , i took a photo of the new pin in place the red push pin points to it , Jim

Good job. Let us know if adjusting the meter brings it back to 180. So it's still working with your other non-SEF coils then?

With the jumper in place i can not go any higher then 120 on the meter but everything else works it would be just a matter of getting used to new numbers for targets a buffalo nickle comes in at 44-45 a quarter , dime and large silver ring 89-90 a pull tab at 32 no biggie so far i still have not tryed the SEF which i will order soon and if that does not work with the meter ill just take the jumper off and go back to 180 ill just listen to the tones with SEF coil . Jim :detecting:

Oh, so you haven't seen how it works with the SEF yet...If the numbers will go to 180 on it when the meter is adjusted? You might want to shoot Joe Pattrick an Email and see if there might be a possible solution to the problem with it reading lower on the non-SEF coils. Maybe the meter has a coarse POT adjustment besides the regular POT adjustment?

Critter there is no other pot adjustment i took the GT outside in my coin garden with the S-12 coil and 4 targets a seated dime a seated quarter ,a large cent and a big chunky silver ring all in the ground all 8 inches deep i tried discrimination mode and all metal i got the same readings on the meter, i made the garden 2 years ago 3 coins all read 140 on the meter instead of 180 the ring read 114 that is not to far off,
what i was surprised about was i could hold the coil 6 inches above the ring and still get a 114 reading !! ok we did have a few inches of rain finally the last 2 days that might of helped the ground was bone dry before that , like i posted earlier when i get the SEF ill post my findings tomorrow ill try the stock 10" coil and see what readings i get .
